Clemson Does Catch a Break w/UVA Vander Plas Out

Some quick stats on him:

2nd on team in both O and D Rebounds
4th on team in 3 pointers made
5th on team in total scoring and in minutes

His replacement has some experience but his loss should give Clemson much more control of the boards and make out inside out game more effective.

I don't know, it depends on whether or not we let his replacement have a "career best" game against those or not.

His replacements are upper-classmen with far more experience in UVA's defensive system. It's no coincidence that last night was one of UVA's best defensive performances of the season. Vander Plas offered more offensively, but he's been a liability defensively for UVA all year. With him out and Shedrick/Caffaro/Dunn splitting his minutes UVA has significantly more rim protection and better overall interior defense.

It does mean that the pick and pop game we abused Burns with last night may be useful again. Caffaro isn't comfortable outside and Shedrick is a foul magnet.
