Clemson baseball is going to be good

An awful lot of people on this board don't understand baseball. This team is going to be really good in the future. Schmidt (sp) is a stud freshman. Duggar is a stud freshman. Gibson can fly. He is a freshman. Krueger can really get it done at ss. He is a freshman. A lot of good sophomores also. There will be some growing pains but they will only get better with experience. Ignorant posters will eat crow with their negative comments. Definitely see the future of tiger baseball being bright

Perfect time to bring in a new coach while we are young

with a bright future.
Leggett's been great but couldn't get it done with the 96 team or 2002 team.
If you couldn't win with the 2002 team, then it ain't gonna happen.

Watch what happens today and rest of season

If Leggett doesn't develop this team into a good winning season, then it is time for him to go. He would do alot better giving up the third base coaching job. His tenseness leads to several base-running errors. And then he throws a hissy fit because Brittle did not run to third, where he may have been thrown out. That was embarrassing watching him have to eat crow when Brittle did get to third base. He is wound too tight and that leads to tension in the field, except for pitcher who is handled by Peppicelli. If Leggett would relax and go to bench and coach, he could see the whole field better and not miss the forest for the trees. Poor guy, bless his heart, he is going to have a heart attack if he does not watch it. I hope I am wrong and have to eat these words, but it has been frustrating watching him lose games because of tension on the field. I admire the way he has his players looking fit and sharp in our uniforms compared to beer guts and sloppy uniforms on opponents like USuck. However, the verdict is out on tomorrow and rest of season. I hope I am wrong and have to eat these word and it would be a delicious meal if so. GO TIGERS WIN TOMORROW AND HAVE A GREAT SEASON!

It's just an opinion. And it's not even a strong opinion.

Jack has been solid for us and will continue to be solid.
I'm just in favor of a change. But I have no doubt that Jack will have us in decent shape to make a run at Omaha again.
I just don't think he could actually win the whole shabang, but that's hard for anyone to do.

to the rest of college baseball for Clemson to get rid of Jack Leggett? Nobody decent would want the job if that happened.

even make a regional, which isn't happening.
I just think it'd be a positive thing for him to hang it up. Like I said, you can always count on Clemson baseball to be solid. We're in a hotbed for talent and we have a solid coach in Leggett.
But I'd like to see what a fresh guy could do with this program.

and he's only 58 years old (he'll be 59 next week), so it's not like he's washed up or anything. He certainly isn't about to retire. Clemson baseball is WAY more than "solid". It's a real shame some Clemson fans don't understand how good they have it. Just because SC won 2 CWS titles after they spent 30 million on a new stadium doesn't mean Clemson sucks.

trying to say on one hand that baseball at Clemson is the greatest thing since sliced bread and on the other saying nobody decent would take the Clemson job if we got rid of a coach who despite winning has yet to deliver a national title and fails to even win the conference on a somewhat regular basis?
Minutes after the press conference announcing Jack leaving one way or the other DRad's voice mail will be full of quality coaches who would die for an opportunity like Clemson provides.

I've never said Clemson baseball is the greatest thing since sliced bread. But it's much better than the haters will admit. Do you realize how mediocre Wilhelm was during the 80s? Why is winning a national title some kind of requirement? And don't give the BS about "well, Ray Tanner won it" because that's stupid. Clemson hasn't made the investment in baseball that SC did. Clemson also can't get in some of the players that SC can. Clemson can only recruit players that meet the academic requirements of "regular students", that isn't true at SC.

Then we need to set priorities

If, in your words, we can't compete for national titles then we need to start competing for ACC titles. Wilhelm bought enough credit for the down years you cite in the 1980's by winning the ACC.

tourney to rest for the real deal.
Not saying I agree, but that's the excuse that most give for us not winning the ACC.

but since winning the ACC isn't a requirement for making the NCAA, then losing in the conference tournament isn't the end of the world.

I just don't see why it's some kind of requirement. Not only did Clemson not make the NCAA Tournament, they didn't win the ACC either in 1982, 83, 84, 85, or 86.

Wilhelm won the ACC seven times. That buys you more credit than winning the ACC twice.
