Clemson and FSU, ACC swofford out

May 14, 2012, 9:45 AM

I have been keeping up with this topic about Clemson and FSU leaving.. and I think it is a bad idea the money they both Clemson and FSU will gain from the join the big 12 will not cover the traveling for the major sports ( football, basketball, and baseball ) Yes I know the move may help the NC race for the teams but it’s not worth it. The best thing to do is get Swofford out because his only looking out for basketball and the Tar heels.. Hello he is a UNC grad!!! All the only major conferences (big 10, 12, East, Pac 12 and SEC) commissioner are not grads from only of the schools that are in that conferences....

how much do you think travel will cost geez

May 14, 2012, 9:50 AM

If we left we would probably get an additional 4 million minimum if not more. Travel even if it cost 2 million extra would still leave is ahead of the game

BTW WVU has said travel cost only increased by a million

May 14, 2012, 9:52 AM

PLus if more east coast schools joined, do you not think they would group us all together which would then decrease the whole travel arguement

Travel costs will be on par

with an ACC that includes Syracuse and Pitt as well as BC, MD, and Miami. Do the math.

Travel Costs????

How much do you think it costs to travel to Boston, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, and Miami? Plus, any further ACC expansion will likely come from the Big East.

All estimates show that travel cost for the AD would

increase by 2million per year. If the Big 12 expands to 14 teams the rumored TV contract would be worth 28 million a year. Which is 11 million more than what we would be getting through the ACC. Minus 2 million in expenses and Clemson is still up 9 million a year MORE than what they woudl be getting if we stayed in the ACC.

Also factor in that the ACC contract is backloaded and we wouldnt see the full additional 4 million a year for another 9 years.

Its a no brainer. See ya ACC have fun playing roundball

Actually, the Big 12 has a provision for travel which comes

off the top of revenues, or so I'v heard.
