Championship basketball season

Has always been a big event for me as I have always followed college basketball closely. I was just a young kid when I watched the tar heels win the national championship under Frank McGuire in the late 50’s. That was before I knew very much about the Clemson Tigers. One of my earliest memory’s of college ball was the amazing game Frank Selvey had for Furman in the late 50’s when he scored 100 points in one game. I bet there aren’t many who remember that night! My high school basketball coach was a member of that Furman team. Another memorable game was the national championship that Texas Western won in the mid 60’s. The first all black team to win. Hopefully I will get to see “my team” cut down the nets soon. They need to get great quickly. I’m running out of time!!!GO. TiGERS.

He fouled out in the first few minutes of that game when Selvey scored his 100 points. I think I remenber him telling me he fouled out in the first three minutes. My coach went on to play triple A minor league baseball. He coached football, basketball and baseball at my high school.
