I'm 53 years old and I have seen many Olympics over the years. The coverage changes when NBC carries the Olympics instead of ABC.
ABC, lots of track and field, gymnastics, basketball, boxing, wrestling, weight lighting, decathalon, pentahalon, swimming and diving.
NBC, swimming, diving, volleyball, beach volleyball, cycling, more diving, more swimming, gymnastics, more gymnastics, more beach volleyball, more volleyball, more diving, equestrian, more beach volleyball, basketball, more beach volleyball,track and field, but only semi finals and finals of running events, finals of other track and field events.
This has been the most boring Olympics to me in my 50+ years. Too much of the same thing, over and over again.

single event in these games via some type of tv or internet outlet. NBC has shown over 5500 hours of programming for the 2012 games.
In 5 summer games ABC averaged 65 hours of total coverage with the '84 games being the most at 180 hours. NBC showed 272.5 hours on their channel alone. NBC Sports Network added another 292.5 hours while Bravo showed 56 hours, CNBC 73 hours, and MSNBC 155.5 hours.
If for some crazy reason you actually thought that NBC wasn't showing a better variety, esp compared to past Olympics, then you certainly weren't looking in the right place.

watch the Olympics, especially when the NBC website goes into detail of what each channel is broadcasting each day.
The fact of the matter is that since NBC is showing everything, they can show what gets the best ratings on their channel and show the more traditional sports on the others. If it's a big deal to look at the schedule for the day and type in a different channel number than NBC to watch the sport you want, well I think that's a little silly!

this rundown of these other stations from the main NBC affiliate feed. When did they do this?
How can boxing, even just a couple of bouts, not EVER make the primary feed? How does the decathlon not make it? Probably the most prestigious Olympic medal.
Amazing to an old guy like me.

there standard cable option, and the options I mentioned above are what they are seeing, and not much beyond that.
Being forced to search the internet to see the decathlon and some of the other older Olympic events instead of two weeks of volleyball, diving, and beach volleyball ad nausem on the primary NBC station in your area is a sad commentary to NBC's coverage.

badminton or fencing?
Like yesterday I was watching wrestling and the commentators were talking about "signature moves" and that kind of stuff. But there weren't any ring ropes for the wrestlers to climb or bounce off and it was soooooo boring. Looked like a couple of homos if you ask me. I took it as long as I could, but I finally got so repulsed I had to turn it back to the diving.
