Well, they are listed/sold as standup kayaks, right? I have a couple but not fishing platforms. But also, being young, spry and prolly 5’ 3” and 135 pounds is an edge, too.

The other thing I noticed is the Mirage Drive. I rented the Hobie ocean/lake kayaks for several beach trips. Once you get them past the surf (you ain’t getting off the beach dry then, for sure!), what a sweet system. With little to no effort you can easily cruise at 3 or 4 mph!

That chick can handle that kayak!!! She's obviously been fishing her whole life... that's easy to see.
Thanks for poasting the link. That was even fun to watch.

You're trying to embarrass me.

Couple of weeks ago I was fishing in my kayak. Just floating around throwing a spinnerbait. Next thing I know I'm tilting way too far to the right and end up in the water. I flipped. Kayak flipped. Two rods are now in about 15 feet of water. Cell phone also in 15 feet of water. Tackle box down there, too. Pretty dang expensive fishing trip!

Never had that happen before. I have no idea how it happened. I've tried to reconstruct it in my mind, but nothing makes sense. I wasn't leaning over the kayak. A boat didn't come by and hit me with waves and start rocking it. I was just reeling in the spinner bait at an angle of about 2 o'clock (front of kayak being 12).

I did learn something about kayaks. They go through water like a plow through rocks when flipped. I was about 30 feet from a dock and tried to get behind it and push. No movement. Tried a couple of other techniques. No movement. Finally got in front and did the side stroke holding onto it with one hand. Managed to get it to shore, finally. All told, from the time I hit the water until I got on dry land it was about 30 minutes.

Gators.....I flipped my Bonafide in the Broad...But since then, I keep the seat on the lowest setting. It is way more comfortable on the high setting...but not nearly as stable. Bonafides are noted for stablilty. But, that is in ponds and lakes. They are not that great for the river because when the current gets you sideways it is dicey, especially if you are pushed up against a rock. Everything can go haywire in a split second. I have about 2,000 dollars worth of gear on deck of my Boanafide most of the time. A flip is costly!!!
