The restriction you mention of a president only being

Jan 14, 2013, 9:52 PM

allowed to serve two terms was the 22nd amendment to the US constitution. It was ratified in 1951, six years after FDR left office

As much as I hate this,

Jan 15, 2013, 9:07 AM

I have to agree with Tboy. ;)

The 2 term limit came as a result of FDR wanting to be Pres for life - literally.

Re: FDR was a dictator

Jan 15, 2013, 8:03 AM [ in reply to FDR was a dictator ]

george w bush was a dictator, he set up concentration camps in Cuba and Afghanistan and ordered his CIA to round up Muslims and detain them with no trial. He also illegally invaded Iraq much like Hitler invaded Poland and passed multiple executive orders that restricted our privacy as American citizens.

see how easy that is?

FDR led this country out of the great depression (which….

Jan 16, 2013, 1:16 AM [ in reply to FDR was a dictator ]

was created by republicans) and he led this country through world war II (which republican businessman like Prescott Bush had business dealings with the Nazi's). He also created the modern middle class with the new deal. A lot of you middle classers here in South Carolina would still be dirt poor farmers if it wasn't for the New Deal.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Obama is already up to about 150

Jan 15, 2013, 8:07 AM [ in reply to President Franklin D. Roosevelt issued a total of 3,728 ]

but keep up with the "but. . . . but .. . . but. . . Bush" argument for everything

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The problem isn't the executive orders exactly.

Jan 15, 2013, 9:33 AM

Problem is they are usually used for regulatory issues. This particular administration uses them to skirt the Constitution and Congress because they couldn't do what they want otherwise.
