Good morning everyone how was your weekend?

16

Mar 20, 2023, 7:45 AM

Friday night had to get some news shoes so took care of that while sharkgirl learned how to test water quality in streams. Frozen lasagna for supper then some On Patrol: Live.

Saturday, helped my friend haul some lumber for a desk he's building. Studied for my test, went to a party and drank more than I have in a while.

Sunday, actaully got up at a decent time. Cleaned the house a bit, did more studying, finally watched that Avengers Endgame movie.

Didn't do a whole lot, soccer practice with McJr then a little party Sat night. McJr cut his face open at the end of the party and had to get it glued shut (he ok though).

Sunday - Church in the morning, worked 2 hours, played outside with the kids. Spaghetti for dinner.

Decent and uneventful...

Friday - met wife, daughter and daughter's friend at Taqueria Picante for dinner. Watched something on TV with wife and crashed.

Saturday - Hit Mamma Penn's for breakfast with wife-of, did some chores around the house, watched some basketball, wife went over to a fraund's house in gville for the day,. took daughter-of up to join the YMCA and she worked out with her friend, and then I met wife at Carrabba's for dinner. Food was decent, but service was horrible. Got home and son-of was playing BB in driveway with 3 other boys. Had a good time watching them play. Had to teach one boy a lesson shooting 3's after he called me an "old man".

Sunday - lazy in the morning. Dropped off daughter and friend to work out at Y and I walked on track at hospital. Then took the girls to the new Tropical Smoothie Cafe in Anderson. Dropped $40 on smoothies and sandwiches. Came home and played BB with son-of for a while. Then realized I way overdid it and knees started barking. Cooked pork medallions and mashed taters for dinner. Tried to help son-of with his math, which degenerated into a shouting match (not fun).

All-in-all I ate well and didn't do much of anything productive.

Saturday we went down to cousin's 80th birthday party. Got to see Elvis sing Dixie and Happy Birthday. BBQ was unreal good. Took the boys to the old burnt church to see the well and old graves. Went on a grocery run Sunday. Church was first. Middle son sang. Brunch afterwards then wife took oldest to see bagpipes played while I hung out at the house. Did a little work on Sunday afternoon.

Pretty good overall 8.9/10

Nothing Friday

Saturday went to The Grove in Pendleton to judge some bbq
Walked around downtown a bit and around campus
Thought about trying to get into the softball game but it was a bit cold and didn’t want to hike down there and not get in
Rode around the different ag areas I used to frequent as a student
Came home, watched baseball and softball cut grass (onions)

Fri - last day for Aiken Brew Pub and St. Paddy's Day. Shut that beyotch down right.

Sat - Aiken Trials ran but skipped it cause it was cold. Met some folks downtown and had some beers, went to a friends house for firepit and beer.

Sun - watched bball tourney and golf. Got some takeout from Grumpy's. Pretty uneventful day. Tired af so got the kid in bed early and crashed.

Friday - cooked some corned beef and cabbage and had my annual black & tan (or 6)

Sattidy - messed around, cooked some good steak and Brussel sprouts. Saw my kayak break loose and float away. The boat needs a fuse for the starter so I couldn;t chase it. Oh well, it washed up on or shore about 4 years ago. Easy come, easy go.

Sunday - Church, washed the car, cooked some pasta.

9.72/10 (18.47/19 on the RH Covids scale) with deductions for the Baggage Boys leaving 16 on base Friday.

Friday, visit to RH Mom after work, then off to Lenny Boy Brewing for cold and delicious craft beers and Xtreme World Wrestling. Excellent show, the King of Lighting won the pot of gold in the 4-way St. Patrick's Day Ladder Match. Back home to finish the night watching baskerballs.

Saturday, chores and errands galore, visit to RH Mom, then rode over to my pal the instrument collector's house and traded the Reverend Rumblefish and Triad baases in for a Music Man Stingray special edition, a Music Man Bongo, and his latest 5-string Rumblefish...roughly $7000 worth of instruments. Needless to say, I played a LOT of bass Saturday night, with some baskerballs breaks inbetween.

Sunday, grocery run and more errands, visit to RH Mom, then off to the Thirsty Beaver to see Clemson's own Kenny Roby of Six String Drag play solo. He was first of three acts along with The Old Souls from Plairsville, GA. and Charlotte legend Bill Noonan (who co-fronted the Rank Strangers with Gigi Dover, if any of y'all remember them). Excellent time, and didn't expect RH Sis to come rolling up in there with her little party crew so a few more Miller High Lifes were consumed than originally intended.

Top notch 19/19 Covids weekend.

Friday: played poker with some frans, low stakes $10 buy-in because some rookies in the crowd, still took down about $30. No plan to stay out too late because getting up early on Saturday, but still didn't get to sleep until after 2am. Derp.

Saturday: up at 7ish to head out to the woods for the annual Duharra Games Competition. Longtime friend from Clemson and his MD crowd have some duckhunting land down Green Pond, and the 4 (used to be 5) doctor/proprietors have a competition weekend in March every year with each of them inviting a guest or two. Skeet shooting competition before everybody gets too drunk to handle firearms, skeethouse and field shots, and then later in the afternoon, yard/bar games. 10 guys (only 3 of 4 proprietors, and 7 guests). Two separate trophies/titles/bragging rights. I've had several bridesmaid finishes in both comps over the years.

Only hit 13/18 from the skeethouse, did singles, reports (second pigeon after first shot), and doubles (same time), think there was a couple 15/18 and a 16/18. Head to field for crossing shots, which are much closer to what you'd actually see a bird do--fly across or over or towards you. I'm usually stronger here, especially with crossing shots, and went 0/4 and 1/4 on the high speed crossing shots. Fortunately, it was actually that tough and everybody else was mostly shitting the bed with me. Went 4/4 on the last station where the pigeons were slower at the end of the flight, almost ground level, and not much more than 15-20' away. Ended up in a 4 way tie at 18/30.

Overtime, back to skeethouse. 1 player eliminated in first round of doubles. Double overtime, one more player eliminated in 3 bird throws. TRIPLE overtime, me and my friend who invited me, 4 birds at once, 3 shells in the gun. Hit one on the first round, and hit all 3 on the second, which was probably the best piece of shooting of the day, if I do say so myself--4 birds coming out from underfoot at the same time disappear in not much more than 3-3.5 seconds. So 4/6, buddy also went 2/4-2/4 for 4/6.

BACK to the field for quadruple OT. Switched sides, but pretty close to the shot I ended 4/4 on to make the playoff. Hit first 2, missed next 2. Buddy missed his first 3 because probably his weakest shot, BALL GAME. Only the second time in 11 years that a non-proprietor has won the shooting competition, so feelin' pretty good about things.

They have a big silver cup that gets engraved with the winner every year, but that has to stay with a proprietor, so my buddy gets to keep it on his shelf since I was his guest. They do a smaller pewter cup for the winner, too.

Games competition once the bourbon started flowing, was horseshoes, darts, bucketball (think beerpong with 5 gallon Home Depot buckets with sand in the bottom, and mini basketballs), and another old Clemson buddy brought a game him and his business partners came up with that they're manufacturing in China and selling on Amazon and whatnot--weird game with bocce balls and frisbees and lawn darts (not the dangerous '80s ones, meh). Lost in the first round of weird game, won darts (surprisingly, as I'll typically lose to the guy I beat in the shooting comp, but I pointed him to death on 19s to start the game), and came in 2nd in horseshoes. One guy won 2 of the 4 games, so I figured it was a no-brainer that he was the Games champ, but WAIT! Somehow, I was tied with him, and ended up having to play a final game for 3rd place in bucketball--a 3rd place finish there would give me a single point and enough for the title. Since this has been Winning Weekend so far, I took it down. Only the second time somebody has won the shooting AND games competitions in the same day--one of the proprietors did it last year for the first time.

Nice lil YETI trophy for that portion of the win. Sent this to the proprietors this morning and let them know that the coffee is hitting a little different today.

Sunday: slept on the porch after going to bed rather drunkenly at 1:30 or 2am, grabbed the wrong sleeping bag so was right on the edge of being too cold. Woke up at 5:30am with horrible leg cramps, dunno what that's about. Cleaned up with errbody and headed out. Did a couple bushels of oysters at Dad's house, no plans to consume any alcohol but had a few lawnmower beers because oysters. Spent the day feeling like I got punched all day Saturday. Getting old is rough.

Killer weekend with all the winning, 127/10, would do again and again, but may not be invited back to future games competitions.

Decided to fly out of Atlanta for our ski trip because the annual Nashville spring break price gouge was off the charts this year. Savings of $1500 on 4 tickets made the 3.5 hour drive to ATL seem like a no-brainer.

So Sat morn, left bright and early from Telluride to get ti Denver. 6 hour drive but it moves quickly because the scenery is incredible and the traffic is minimal. Get to airport. Flight originally supposed to be at 5 with a 9pm or so arrival is late. Now 7-ish departure, 11-ish arrival. Ok, sucks but is what it is.

#*#*%*} flight ends up taking off at midnight (sat at Denver airport for almost 8 hours) and lands at 4:45am Atlanta time on Sunday. Takes another hour to get luggage because ATL. Pound two five hour energies and a coffee from the Kennesaw QT, and make it home at 9:15 yesterday morning, a solid 27 hours after my trip began, with no sleep. I’m draggggggggggging today.

Busy as foretold

8

Mar 20, 2023, 10:02 AM

Friday: had a morning practice with the side since no school, went into work late, did a lot of paperwork that results in nothing productive being done.

Saturday: slept in because tired as foretold. Daughter and I went to our Farmer's Market, Vitamin SHoppe, Harris Teeter and Aldi. She is struggling with an eating disorder and it's helpful for us to plan all of her meals and shop together. Watched a tiny bit of basketbawls, heard Furman lost, which on a scale of Dabo to Brownell is much closer to Brownell. Cook my famous chicken bog, where FBCoachSC® tried to mock my chicken stock recipe, I looked very hard and I could not find a single eff to give. Son came over and had a good time

Sunday: up early, coffee, church, scokker, taking my USSF C license course and did my homework for that most of the afternoon. Went to bed early.

10/10 would dew again especially the going to bed early

Friday, went and had dinner with some friends.

Saturday, had a few early beers with a buddy, then came home and watched some youtubes, and spent the rest of the night pondering about who else is attempting to financially sodomize me. I sweatergod seemingly everyone has one hand open for a handout, and their other hand has a pistol pointed directly at me. I can't imagine what life would be like if I actually had money.

Sunday helped work on a buddies boat, then came home and worked on my boat a bit. Went and watched Hans Wenzel play a few songs, ended up at the southern, ubered home around 10 and went to bed. Woke up at 6 am with my mind racing, so I went ahead and got up.
