Ben is human afterall

I like Ben a lot. He has some much intensity. But this was not his best game. The two long runs appeared to be bens miss. (Atleast to my untrained eyes after watching the replay) he also missed the qb on a few blitzes. If someone saw it differently please correct me

Kearse looked like he might have been playing hurt yesterday. Seemed to be playing "slower" than usual. Maybe a tweaked ankle or hamstring that we didn't know about?

I noticed the same thing. He is usually the one tracking down players that get free. He wasn't anywhere close to that yesterday. I hope its not anything that will nag him all year, if anything at all.

I thought the exact same thing. Kearse looked as intense as usual but almost running at 3/4 speed. I suspect he has a nagging something that hopefully will be fully resolved with a week until FSU!

I'm saw the same thing. Ben is good but we need more speed at linebacker. We need Shaq Smith badly.

Boulware and Kearse had rough games.........
Nov 1, 2015, 9:54 AM

They gameplanned to isolate the two on certain receivers and Boulware was too late a # of times to fill the gap resulting in big gains. At the end of the game, Dabo was really happy at the end of the game and walked over to Boulware to congratulate him and Boulware looked disgusted, upset, showed no emotion, was shaking his head and just looked like a guy that knew he didnt have a very good game. Ben is his toughest critic.

Both are very aggressive. Saw them at their best vs. Miami

But can sometimes be exposed - often by getting caught up in blocks very close to LOS.
BV needs to carefully examine his play calling tendencies for FSU.

Dalvin Cook is quicker that NCSU RB's & a mismatch for Ben

in pass coverage.
BV needs to be careful with his defensive schemes next week.
Also, One or both of our safeties may need to play more of a true safety role.

This is the biggest issue to me. Don't think FSU won't try to exploit this. Ben was mismatched trying to cover the NCSU RB, and it will be worse against FSU. Venables better have a plan for this that is better than just "Ben run faster".

You guys kill me. We gave up 41 points so of course some of our guys did not have their best game. We had 5 sacks, 10 tackles for loss and were very close on a bunch more sacks. Maybe it was just the guy they were chasing was 6-4 and 250 lbs. Just a guess. Coach v thought the d played decent not great so I may go with what he said rather than a bunch of gooberstuff on the Internet. I am quite sure our guys will show up ready to play next Saturday.

Just a discussion that FSU is a different kind of animal ...

Noles are a little bigger, stronger and faster than what we have seen.
Our margin for error is smaller.
Of course, the reverse is true. Clemson is by far the best team FSU will see.
Coaching will be important. I do not like Jimbo's ethics, values etc. I begrudgingly respect his coaching - especially second half adjustments.

We will be back in our normal 4-3 for the Noles

We played a bunch of 3-3-5 and even some 3-2-6 against Nc. State. Blanks will get the running back assignment against F.S.U. with Jayron or Green covering the T.E.

Boulware isn't a coverage LB

Thats the weakness of our D. I'm sure BV will minimize our weakness against what is a strength of FSUs offense.

Ben is amazing at pass rush and run stop. He is not good in coverage, and opposing OC's have figured out how to isolate him 1 on 1 and burn us. Kearse i did not see blow any coverages per se, but he was not his normal fast self in stopping the long plays. We need to find those receiver mismatches against Ben and scheme away from them.
