Argument for Cade Klubnik

I am not a coot and I do not have a grudge against Dj. Dj is a really good QB when he has talented wide receivers around him. Meaning they can’t drop catchable balls. And need to learn to separate better. And a good offensive line because Dj isn’t fast and isn’t all that great under pressure. But here is my argument and why I think Cade Klubnik is better am I saying Klubnik should be the starter no not yet. But what I am saying is this Klubnik deserves a package in this offense and it’s gonna be needed against better competition like NC State FSU maybe Wake and Miami. Because Klubnik I saw everything I needed to see in one play yesterday. That play where he avoided a sack and ran for a pretty decent gain. This kids got speed and more mobile than Dj. Against better defenses where they’re getting through the offensive line Dj will likely struggle. So it’s possible to have to win a different way. Klubnik mobility and ability to escape defenders and run it for a big gain or buy time with his legs time for a receiver to get open could be very valuable against better defenses. So no I’m not saying Klubnik is better then DJ but I am saying Klubnik maybe needed to win against better defenses. Sometimes you just have to find another way to win. Klubnik does have the higher ceiling and that’s my argument for Klubnik.

I agree with everything you just said, outside of DJ led us to 10 wins.
That was the defense that led us to 10 wins last year.
DJ has been a solid QB this year and is definitely the #1. Boy he is not a runner though. Really proud of him for making the runs he does and battling when he runs.

Cade isn't ready for a special package to be run for him in big moments of big games.
The speed that Cade showed against LA Tech won't look as impressive against NC State, Miami, FL State, N.Dame, and the ACC Coastal Champ (in the ACC Championship game).
He needs time and inexperience in the not-critical times of a game to get to the point where he is a big time enough QB to lead a big-time team like ours.
He's not Deshaun Watson or Trevor Lawrence ... and note that neither DW nor TL started at the start of their FR seasons.
Cade is going to be great, but if he ends up starting for more than a few games this season (i.e., if DJ gets injured) then those games had better not be against any of the aforementioned 5 teams or else we're not going to the CFP.

A window of opportunity afforded by a weak early schedule was missed to get Cade more playing time and ready for a playoff run. Even though , as we’ve seen it wasn’t always going to be pretty watching Cade work through his typical Freshman happy feet issue, he nonetheless should have been afforded that time to get adjusted to college football.
DJ is a good to average college QB who is too inconsistent on routine throws combined with his lack of quickness to escape trouble, he’s not going to be able to work around poorly designed pass plays that give him little chance of success. Every defensive coordinator this season is going to demand Clemson score by throwing the ball until DJ puts on film that he and the WR’s can burn them.
Cade gives Clemson at least a chance with his strong arm but more importantly his ability to escape trouble, another critical factor defensive coordinators do not have to take into account with DJ. There is no read option with DJ as he’s not a threat to take off. There are more unknowns about Cade than DJ , however there is more hope and upside.
Having said all that, if they maintain status quo and if Dabo’s offense continues to lean on low percentage pass plays and expects DJ to just adjust, I’m not sure we don’t drop several games along the way

Cade has a Bight future but he has thrown several balls that should have been intercepted. That won’t work against better competition. Love his wheels but he definitely needs some work.
DJ is the man for now.

The coaching staff is not going to start Klubnik unless DJ gets hurt or completely falls off the rails. So stop with these childish arguments that you base on 1 play.

So, we need to be pulling for both guys so we can win. They do a great job of pulling for each other and so should we here on Tigernet.
I’m thankful we have Hunter Johnson’s experience if needed too. Having great backups matter!
