Anyone else want to see less of D Watson?

By less I mean fewer designed running plays (not an end - just fewer). At 190 pounds, if he continues to carry the rock as much as he did this past weekend, he will get injured - no doubt about it. And needless to say, that would be a huge blow to our O.

I agree I prefer not to see him running except on scrambles where he has no other choice.

less hits. He needs to take a hit when only necessary.

I partially agree. I'm not a big fan of him running the Power O up the gut because of the simple fact that he's not as solid as Boyd....yet.
I dont mind him running to the outside because he (usually) has the option to get out of bounds to avoid a big hit.
But yea I hear ya. I cross my fingers every time he's tackled hoping he gets up unscathed

I wouldn't call fewer designed runs scared. I call it smart

190 pounds will eventually give to a 230 pound LB. I'd still run him at times, just not as much.

You realize he isn't 190 pounds right?

I believe he weighed in somewhere at 205 at beginning of fall camp, and now looks to be somewhere around 208-210.
I've seen him in person. Much, much bigger than you would think.

Regardless, there is always an inherit risk with our offense

that the QB will get banged up. If we see less of him run, we see less of our 'style' of offense and that doesn't sound like a great idea... He does seem to know when to lower the shoulder and when to slide though...

Very briefly, but did get a chance to shake his hand outside the buses at the Tiger Walk. I'm 6'2, 200 lbs or so. He's maybe a wink taller than me, so I could believe the 6'-3", but I don't know about the 200+ lbs. I'd guess 190 or so also.
I agree with the sentiment that we need to be careful with him. He's a very special player and one of his best traits is that he's fearless. But, that could wind up getting him hurt, so we need to do whatever we can to protect that young man. I remember that age too, and I thought I was invincible also. Weird how much knowledge you gain between 20 and 30. But I digress... He is everything advertised and more - but his fearless nature is leaving him susceptible to injury - and I pray that doesn't happen to him. So, until he bulks up a little - anything we can do to protect him, we need to do.

190? He was 203 or 208 lbs on weigh in day IIRC. He's put on 20-25 pounds since he enrolled in January.
I like to see him run, seems to come very natural to him, but not too much as you stated. He's good at getting down or going out of bounds I've noticed. Anticipates pocket collapsing as well.

He weighed in at 204 prior to fall camp. He's been pretty good at avoiding contact, but that hurdle into the endzone Saturday was pretty scary... Impressive, but I'd be ok with seeing a little less of that.

It's actually a crucial goal for this team. FSU could lose two game still. Their schedule is not as easy as some think it is.

It was just plain ole common sense. He's just a true freshman. Give him another year and 15+ pounds will be better prepared to fend off defenders.

I said that same thing after the UGA game. Watson scares me every time he runs. He is way to valuable to the team to risk getting hurt. Oh dang - I should have informed Dabo sooner. It was so obvious that I saw no need to do that.
