A kindergartner at the school I was at today got out of his car with only one shoe- teacher told his mom and was told they couldn’t find the other one. Brought him to school with just the one- guess it was good that it wasn’t 25 degrees or raining

My house isnt messy and my 12 year old can barely "find" anything. I wouldnt let him out of the house with one shoe but still.

Well, that just might help him to keep up with what you had to work hard to give him. The biggest problem with todays kids, they think everything they have was given to them by anybody not named daddy or momma!!! Each to their own, but I promise you that my kids 45 years ago, could tell me where everything that me and momma paid for, was at when asked. And if they didn't, they better act like they did. And they understood that nothing we gave them grew on trees, and that we had to work for it while they just had to make good grades in school, eat, sleep, and play!!!

Child or they’d just forget about the other shoe and put on a different pair. Makes you wanna find a way to help them out.

School nurses and counselors have to keep a whole lot more than just band-aids or referral forms in their offices. I remember our middle school collecting old jeans several times.

Babies begin learning before they are out of the womb, before they took their first breath of air. IMO, refusing to teach them the value of what they call theirs, is a wasted teaching moment. My two daughters may not have been the smartest two girls, but there wasn't much they couldn't be taught even at a very young age. Both were potty trained by the time they were 18 to 20 months old, and by two they both were full proof potty trained.
Really young kids really love making their parents proud of them, and it teaches them that it's rewarding when they try to do their best with whatever. And there isn't anything more rewarding to a small child than their parents being proud of them for their accomplishments.
It's a fact that babies start learning while in their mothers womb at the 8th and 9th month before they are born. They already know their mothers voice, they will also react to certain music that their mothers listen to in their last couple of months before being born. Any of you that has an expecting wife, watch how your baby will react to it's mothers voice soon after it's born, they became familiar to her voice before they were born. Moms and dads job starts as soon as your babies are born, and I'm talking about reasonable things for their age within reason, but especially after 10-12 months old.

My wife’s a teacher and from what I hear about some of these parents a lot of these kids do not have a chance.
It’s not about money all the time.

when the young grandkids came to visit, I told them the hearth was the place for shoes and socks. Never any problem.

Sounds like a good punishment to me. Kid doesn’t put his shoes where they go and just kicks them off anywhere. Well of your not responsible enough to keep up with your shoes then you’ll go to school with the only one you can find.

You left out an important part of your story. Did the kid have one foot or two? That is kind of relevant.
