I would like to challenge any of you to make a gentleman’s deal that if Brownell fails to make NCAA Tournament next year that you will admit you were wrong about him and take a 3 month hiatus from Tnet. If I lose I will do the same. Deal??

that there are posters here that just want the best for CU basketball, but are a tad closer to understanding the bigger picture includes much more than the coach as the root cause. I remember in 1996 being at LJ watching Tim Duncan dismantle one of the most talented and highly ranked teams we ever had. I knew then that Clemson wasn't close to their potential. I still feel that way three coaches later. Fortunately, we've grown in support and continue to put more money into the future, finally. I'm excited to see what my alma mater does at the next turn. Stealing a line like I have done many times in my personal life, the best is yet to come.

That’s cool and all. Not even really disputing it. But it’s also become convenient cover for a coach who lost 4 quad 3/4 games. It’s not explained by inconsistency across the sports. Brownell loses more games to teams with a sub200 rpi, per year, than his predecessors back to Foster and (as of a couple years ago when I did the homework) his peers in ACC coaching. Two things can be true at once. Clemson basketball needs better administrative and fan support AND Brownell is not the coach to maximize return on that investment. We did not lose to Loyola Chicago because of funding or talent. We lost because we have a coach who is consistently unable to have his team prepared for those type of matchups.

I support the team and coaching staff, and administration for that matter. There are many variables which determine how a given team will do. I think you are focused on one variable: Whether the Tigers make the NCAA T next year or not. So you want to say if the Tigers don’t make the tourney next year then you are right?? That’s crazy and actually a 50/50 bet that proves nothing but gives you some hope to say “I told you so”.
If the Tigers do make the tourney next year I seriously doubt that you would take a 3 month hiatus from complaining about something.

Actually an NCAA Tourney bid is actually the standard for how to judge a successful season. Our AD has even said as much (and then lied about there being consequences for not making it).

The tournament IS the standard and it won’t be one year. It will be the 11th of 14. A miserable track record virtually unprecedented for a coach of his tenure at a Power 5 program.

Check my posts before you flame flamer!! I have never complained about anything but having a basketball team that has underachieved and voiced Brownell needs to be replaced. I could take three months off and not worry about it. As far as the I told you so mantra that you claim I would say is not what I said. You are someone who believes they are always right and if you feel offended you call the other person uninformed or stupid. I just want what is best for our basketball program. It was my first love and I hate to think every year under Brownell we will suffer inexcusable losses

If the tigers won the NCAA three years running you would still be complaining. We had a ###' good year with less raw talent than most of the league. That's coaching.

Based on? PH Hall would start for most teams in the ACC and Tyson and Galloway were super seniors. The freshman talent account for one of Brownell’s better recruiting classes. So, I clearly dispute your premise. But since you choose to perceive his conference victories as “good coaching” how do you reconcile that with 4 very bad losses. They are not “part of the game”. He takes more bad losses per year than his predecessors or peers.

Even Beadle, the redshirt saw very little action. One, they won’t be much more game ready and what about in 2 years when the roster gets a big wash out from graduation?

There is little doubt in mind this program is going to be reduced to rubble by Brownell/Neff. That’ll be a great return on our 14 year $30+ million investment in Brownell.
