Visited the National Championship Rings and Trophies While in God's Country

My friends and I had some time on campus yesterday before the baseball game started. So, we did something that I bet many of you have also done. We went over to the football facility and visited the national championship trophies and rings. Sometimes we have to look through the window. Other times we are able to go into the lobby. Either way, I admit that I still get chills.

The room itself honors the greatness that our program has achieved. Although I have stopped by there a few times, it never - ever - gets old. Every time I go by there I still feel a certain awe - a certain appreciation for greatness and the immense sacrifices that were required to achieve it. For this old Clemson fan, it is magical to say the least.

My apologies for my poor photography skills. Since each ring and trophy is encased in glass, the pictures have a reflection (sorry about that):

I have found it to be hit or miss. If there is any type of event (recruiting, camp, etc.) going on, they usually do not let us into the lobby, which is where the trophies are typically displayed.

If there is not any event going on, they will sometimes let us into the lobby area. Really seems to depend most on the day and what events are happening.

If I were to do this would I have to buzz in into the lobby or is it usually unlocked?

TIA

The lobby does stay locked. There is a lobby attendant who will allow you inside the lobby area if the situation allows for it that day.

Where do you park?

Because the last time I drove by the facility I noticed they had a gate at the entrance to the parking lot.

Sorry if I’m asking too many questions.

We just walk over after we have parked for the game anyway.

You might already know where the lobby is, but just in case it would help: To visit the lobby, you would walk to the other end of the building from where the graveyard of ranked opponents is located. In other words, it is on the other side of the pond from the baseball and softball fields - and all the way to the far end.

The lobby is where the pig pillars are right

Correct - there are big pillars next to the lobby doors. Among the pillars, there is also a plaque and a tribute along the walls commemorating each of the three national championships.

The Ring Bling Factor obviously changed somewhat from 1981 to 2016.

Decades ago, I acquired a 1981 National Champion player's ring that sadly was being sold at auction. The orange stone is cool looking and like today's player's rings still, the "diamond" isn't real. It was part of our 1981 "shrine." We've been slowly selling off our memorabilia but still have the ring. Will probably part with that soon. I'm getting too old and have too much "stuff."

We’ve been once awhile back. It was on a Sunday the day after a home football game. We normally don’t spend the night but it was a big game although I can’t recall who we played. The gate was open so we parked right in front. There was a line of mopeds parked in the front. We walked around all over that building without seeing anyone. My daughter ran down the hill but I don’t recall if the slide was open or not. If so she went down it too.
When we got to the end and were looking at the uniforms a lady came out and told us they were closed 😳 the door was unlocked and we had already finished looking so we left. As we were leaving a car drove up and out came Hunter Renfrow carrying several boxes of Little Debbie cakes 😆. He took a few pix with us and jumped on his moped and took off with his Little Debbie’s.

That is very cool!

I am pretty sure we saw both Garrett Riley and Bryan Breese each walk out of the facility at different times while we were there. Very cool!!

My 1 gripe w/ Reeves complex, along w/ all the new/changed facilities, is that it limits the hardware on display to recent accomplishments.

Example - FB (outside of the '81 AFCA trophy), all the hardware on display is all stuff won during Dabo's tenure. None of the bowl trophies or championship trophies from the pre-Dabo era on display. Leaves alot of our programs history out.

Would love to see either all history find a way to be displayed either at respective facilities or for a dedicated athletics HOF/museum that can show off all of the history, hardware, & accomplishments of Clemson Athletics.
