According to CFB Live, Louisiana Tech will be getting an BCS

at large spot ahead of Clemson if we are both one loss teams. I guess they figure that the BCS would prefer a non AQ school.

If LT finishes in the top 14 I believe, then they are in automatically.

Top 12 is automatic.
Top 16 if they are ahead of a BCS Automatic Qualifier Conference Winner.

They are currently getting 0 points from the computers, and don't expect that to change...they would need to move up like 8-9 spots in the human polls to have a chance....if that happens, we might be playing in the NC

Who would travel or not is totally irrelevant. Who the Sugar Bowl wants or does not want is totally irrelevant.
IF and that is a very BIG IF La Tech finishes in the Top 16 of the BCS standing AND is ahead of BCS champion
THEN
La TECH MUST Be selected as an AT LARGE team to one of the BCS bowl. PERIOD.
Now you can argue that La Tech will not make the Top 16/ Top 12 and you will probably be right but if they are in the Top 12/16 then they will be selected as 1 of the 4 AT LARGE BCS Teams.

If another team from a non-AQ conference is chosen automatically, then no second team will get an automatic bid.
Likely won't happen this year, but possible.

Does everyone remember that someone said we would not get a BCS bowl ? That we would be a 11-1 peach bowl team ? Hhhmmmm, who was that ? Just remember if I'm wrong then I win because I'll admit it like a man and my team goes to a BCS bowl. If I'm right then I'm screwed because the only consolation I have is being right and some Tnetters owing me an apology.

All this would be mute if Ohio State was not on probation. The Buckeyes would be Top 6 in the BCS so that would make it not an issue.
La Tech is 20th. They need to move up 4 spots to make 16th. They play Utah State at home which will be the biggest test. Besides that they should finish 11-1.
AND
Right now only Nebraska from the Big 10 has a realistic shot of finishing ahead of La Tech. Nebraska is 16th with games against Penn St, Minn, and Iowa. Win all three and they are ahead of La Tech and this all means nothing.
BUT
The Big10 has a championship game and the Top 2 Ohio St and Penn St. are ineligible. So that leaves Wisconsin with at least 3 losses and possibly more (games left with Ohio St and Penn St.) playing Nebraska in Indy. If Wisconsin wins the Big10 then they will be behind La Tech and the door opens.
La Tech would need to pass 4 teams to move into the Top 16.
19. UCLA still has Stanford and SoCal and a possible game against Oregon
18. SoCal still has UCLA and Notre Dame and a possible game against Oregon
17. Texas has TCU and Kansas St.
16 Nebraska -see above
15. Texas AM - Alabama and Mizz.
14. Stanford Brutal vs #11 Oregon St. ,AT #2 Oregon, AT #18 UCLA.
I could see La Tech. passing 3 of these teams for 16th place and finishing ahead of the Big 10 champ.
If so there goes one of the 4 AT LARGE spots.

At least one team from a non BCS conference has finished in the Top 16 since 2003.

Terrierfans is beginning to catch on, except for the one major point that so many seem to miss . The BCS as of now was only designed to establish the top two teams in the country , not slot teams for other bowls outside of NCG . That is reserved for 2014 and later. TV #s is all that matters now and the Lower Louisiana Bulldogs of Frogmore Swamp is a great story for tv not a Clemson team that got smoked last year in a BCS game and we have the Nelson #s for . At the end of the day the Fiesta Bowl investigation revealed the ugly truth of the BCS and no one paid attention so we get stuck playing in the peach bowl at 11-1 if were lucky.

Agreed completely the BCS is corrupt and needs to go away.
Of course choosing top bowl games on how well their fans travel is stupid also.
And equally stupid is the NCAA Division 1AA choosing playoff games sites based on guarentees from the host school.
How fair is that to Wofford, school 1500 stadium 12,000 when we compete against Ga Southern 18K, App St 21K and other large state universities.
One year despite winning the SoCon, we went on the road because our bid was $10K less.
Heck the NCAA spends that much on shrimp in the green room during the Final Four.
