ACC Coastal = WEAK

Okay....so Miami may be on the rise. I'll believe in them when I actually see something worth getting excited over. Other than that, the Coastal division sucks!
UNCheat? Please. GT? CPJ has successfully run (heh heh) that program into the ground. I believe VT is on the decline as well....but that's what happens when you let tight ends run the offense
So that leaves the real 2 contendors (us and FSU) in the same division with NCST (sometimes a contender) and soon to be Jooisville
Why can't we get UL in the coastal to make things more interesting?! C'mon man!

don't be silly... Thomas has underachieved

it isn't like the reason he's playing QB is because VT can't get anybody worth a crap to play there.

Doesn't help that the state's recent best QB went out of state. (Boyd and Manuel)

UNC was pretty good last year...

and there's no reason to believe VT will be as bad as they were last year again. That was one of their worst seasons in a long, long time.
You can't forget that just a couple years ago the Coastal looked amazing, with VT, GT, UNC, and Miami all being top 20 teams. This stuff goes in cycles, so it would be a mistake to realign based on how teams are doing/ did in a given year.

That will probably change....

now that players have to start attending class, taking legitimate courses, and actually doing the required work.

Champions/Co-Champions since 1963 Atlantic Division = 40 Coastal Division = 13
Top 4 teams all from Atlantic Division: FSU (13), Clemson (11; worn 3 prior to 1963) Maryland (7), NCSU (6)
Ridiculous that Swofford added Louisville to the Atlantic. Kneejerk reaction to losing 6 of 8 to Duke in BBall?

The best teams in the Coastal are from the Big East

Miami and VT haven't been in the ACC long enough to compare titles with Clemson/FSU
Also, Louisville was brought in to replace Maryland. The division alignments with Louisville haven't even been officially announced.
The Coastal division was much better for years at the beginning of the new ACC. VT/GT/Miami were all very strong.

there's no doubt the Atlantic is much stronger now

the Atlantic has with the additional of Louisville the three ranked teams in the league...the three teams who won significant (at least the Orange Bowl used to be) bowl games this past year...the three programs on the rise in the conference. I see GT and VT on the slide. Miami is going to be dealing w/ the NCAA/Shapiro stuff for years. The NC schools won't get enough quality kids to ever be a serious contender.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Miami end up in the top 20 or so next season and its hard to believe one of UVA/UNC/VT/GT won't also have a good year.
