I just read LemonTiger's post about older generations thinking that younger generations are worse than they are/were.
Your post falls right in line with that: older generations think their music was better too.

The big difference is that a huge amount of todays younger generation listens to what is considered "classic rock."

Many kids grew up listening to their parents play music and developed an appreciation for it; It doesn’t usually happen the other way around. It doesn’t mean either music is better. My parents often played music from their youth like CCR, Skynyrd, even Elvis; and to this day I still like some of it. Never once did either of em ever say to me “hey play that Pearl Jam record for me again”. He or she who controls the stereo remote wields great power.
