We just won a national title in 2021 but let’s take a look at the lineup for the national title match win over Washington two years ago.
GK George Marks D Justin Malou D Oskar Agren D Charlie Asensio D Hamady Diop M Luis Felipe Fernández-Salvador M Álvaro Gómez M Callum Johnson M Quinn McNeill M Ousmane Sylla F Isaiah Reid
Off the bench:
Elton Chifamba Camilo Comi Brandon Parrish Mohamed Seye Dylan Sullivan Tim Strabeck
So from just two years ago we only have 3 players from that team on our current team going for another title in 2023: Sylla, Parrish and Seye. (Chifamba as well but he hasn’t played in many games.) Noonan has brought us back to the title with an almost entirely new roster.

He was interviewed after the game and he talked about the great fan support, and using the portal. Both soccer coaches have done a great job. It was nice to see a pep band there as well.

Gibert and Gerbert both came in from successful careers at Oregon State and plugged in for us immediately

we need to take a couple more Oregon State players as they looked good even without one of their best players down last night.

Might be easy poaching since they don't have a conference anymore.

Maybe our current French connection can put in a good word for us with the Beaver players.

Noonan playing for 2nd NC in 3 years...

people forget out the 2020 (COVID) season.
We were ranked #1 for most of the fall season, but due to COVID, the NC game was moved to the spring.
MLS Draft occurs in mid December. We lost 3 players in the top 33 picks (including the #1 overall pick). So the strength of our team was no longer around.
Easily could be playing for our 3rd NC in 4 years.

With Phillip Mayaka bossing the midfield. I remember going to their matches and it being just a joy every time. We were scoring at will and eviscerating teams.
I think they were actually the best regular season team we”ve had. But they were kinda the inverse of this year’s team and peaked more in the middle of the year and weren’t playing quite as well down the stretch. We were #2 seed in the tournament but lost in penalties to Stanford in the elite 8.
