I'll start with common ground: This s-u-c-k-s. Hopefully no one will disagree with that statement.

Second: even Gee-Haw'd cannot overcome six turnovers on the road.

Third: If you're screaming for anyone's head, nothing I say is going to change your mind, since you aren't using your mind to begin with. You're using your heart to think with, which is an admirable trait ... if you're writing poetry.

Fourth: If you're just shaking off an unprecedented 5th straight loss to the foulest folk on the planet, you're no more attuned to the facts than folks who are screaming for Dabo's head. It DOES matter. We are Tigers. We DO NOT take losses well, especially to the people we have to pay for pizza.

Now, I cannot make the folks screaming for change and the folks eager to put this loss away agree, and I'm not going to try. What I can do is make both at least look at what they are saying and realize that they need to see the common ground.

And that ground is we cannot tolerate losing to Capons. There is much to be done, and we've got a long way toward ending this scourge. It won't be solved by swinging a broad ax, nor will it be corrected by covering the loss with a thin layer of dirt and pretend the smell is coming from the family dog.

I call upon those with the wealth and power to do whatever is necessary that by the time UCS and Clemson meet again, we will KNOW ... not hope, but KNOW ... that this abomination will end.

I call upon those whose hearts and spirits are broken to rest and heal. There is much left to be salvaged this season, and we will need every voice and heart.

And I remind all Sons of Clemson that no matter how it feels today, and no matter how you feel we ended up here...the potential for greatness and one more SEC victory remains on our schedule. Which team, which bowl remains to be seen.

But if fate offers us redemption, we d@mn better grab it with both hands. It's the only pillow for the rocky ground we must sleep on through the winter.
