3 things in the 2nd half

Sep 23, 2012, 10:26 PM

Just got done rewatching the 2nd half, 3 things/plays really caught my eye. I think it was our 2nd possession in the 3rd qtr, looks like Sammy gets interfered with on 3rd down about the 50 yard line, no call - forced to punt. The kickoff return was huge too (should kick all of those in the endzone), The 3rd was on our 3rd offensive possession , the phantom holding call on 1st down where we had about a 20 yard gain ... called back, had 1st and 20 or 25 .... of course that led to a punt too.

I see where you're going with this

and that doesn't really matter right now. Even with a few blown calls here and there, our D was pathetic. I was hoping that they would only bend like in the Allbarn game. This time.... they flat out snapped! Our O played well enough to come back home victorious. The D needs to play for them now.

It was a bad holding call on Thomas though

even Herbstreit said so. One fairly positive note(and their were some) was that the OL did pretty well considering. They got pressure but few sacks. Tajh did a good job scrambling and throwing the ball away. Thomas appears to be a fit at LT

One thing in the 1st Half

Sep 23, 2012, 11:35 PM

Clemson has the ball 3rd and 3 with a 14 point lead near mid-field. Why in the hell go for the trick play at that point??? Why not let Boyd handle the ball and get the 3 yards??? That would give you a chance to put another 3 or 7 on them. That could have made a huge difference.

That trick play is a play you should try on 1st down anyway. I agree.

That's a good point. I liked the call and your logic on why

Not to call it.

I told my kids that was the game changing play of the game. You keep moving the chains w a little over two minutes left and score again before halftime. The play could have gone for six, but ball control at that point was key. I can't remember, but was that our only punt in the first half?

I counted about 4 block in the back's on fsu

no of which were called. I know that everybody gets away with calls now and then, but holy crap it was plain as day.

The decision not to kick the ball through the endzone....

Sep 24, 2012, 8:59 AM

was rediculously foolish.

if you think they were not trying to kick it deep then you are the foolish one.

Dude...spare me.....

Sep 24, 2012, 9:06 AM

I have seen our kickers split the uprights on kickoffs. It's not a matter of ability.

This sounds crazy but Sammy has to be more physical going

Sep 24, 2012, 9:15 AM

for the ball in that situation and he has to get better in getting off of press coverage.

I do know that he was double teamed alot but most of the best WRs are double teamed but still make plays.
