Former Grayson QB cleared to join the Tigers |
Former Grayson quarterback Nick Schuessler has been cleared by the NCAA and accepted into Clemson, clearing the way for Schuessler to join the Tigers in time for fall camp and start school in August.
The walk-on prospect still must sit out a year according to NCAA rules, but he said he was happy nonetheless. “I got an email yesterday that I had been admitted and was cleared by the NCAA,” Schuessler told Tigernet. “So I am good to go.” The high school teammate of Clemson commits

He picked up scholarship offers from Middle Tennessee State and Colorado State before signing with Mississippi State late in the process as a 2-star prospect. He enrolled at Miss. St. in early June, and took just a few classes before deciding he wanted to transfer closer to home and to be with his former teammates at Clemson. He was granted his release by Miss. St., and has been waiting on the clearance from the NCAA and to be accepted by Clemson as a student. “It was a big relief,” he said. “I was hoping so much it would happen. It feels like a big weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I am just excited to get up there and help the team.” Schuessler said he will be back on the Clemson campus Friday. “I am going up there this Friday with Robert and the guys,” he said. “I am going up there with all of them. I am going to talk to the coaches and plan everything out. I will start in August, but I just don’t know when I need to report.”
