Attended the Dabo Swinney football camp in June 2013 and was very impressive in the kicking drills. Offered at the camp and committed. As a junior, he was 11 for 13 on field goals and 40 yards per punt average.

Alex Spence is a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club and Tennis Club. He was a four year letterman for the West Florence Varsity Football Team and received the following awards:

-2012, 2013 Region VI-AAAA All Region Team
-2012, 2013 WPDE All-Zone Team
-2013 Class AAAA Specialist of the Year (High School Football Coaches Association/HSFCA)
-2013 Palmetto Champions Award--State of South Carolina Special Teams Player of the Year (HSFCA)
-Named to the All-State Football Team by HSSR (High School Sports Report)
-Named to the USA Today All-State Football Team for South Carolina
-Named to the 2013 Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas South Carolina Team
-Member of the 2013-14 U-19 US National Football team
-Won the Chris Sailer Kicking 11th
-Member of Chris Sailer Top 12 Event Elite 2013

He also played ice hockey for the FSD1 hockey team (Florence Predators) that competes in the South Carolina Scholastic Hockey league. He received the following awards:
-2010-11 Rookie of the Year
-2011-12 Leading Scorer
-2011-12 State of South Carolina All-Star Team

In addition, he played ice hockey in the Carolinas Hockey League where his team won the South Carolina State championship, the Carolinas Hockey League Championship and competed in the Tier II National Championship Tournament in Washington DC.

Alex was named 2014 West Florence High School Male Athlete of the Year. Alex was named the 2014 Florence School District 1 Male Athlete of the Year.

Alex was a Junior Class Marshall and nominated for Palmetto Boys State. He received the Lander Junior Fellow Award and was named an AP Scholar with Honor. He also received the 2013 Shrine Bowl Award for Academic

Excellence for the State of South Carolina. He is a Palmetto Fellows Scholarship recipient and a Clemson Scholar. He was voted “Best All Around” by the Senior Class.

Alex received the Rotary Club award for Most Outstanding Senior at West Florence High School.

Alex is a Special Olympics volunteer and a longtime volunteer at Maple Park where he has coached Pee Wee Baseball. He also mentors several young kickers and punters in the Florence area.

Annual National Kicking Event in Las Vegas, NV

Alex is a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church where he has served in many capacities. He is a certified American Red Cross Babysitter and enjoys babysitting and spending time with children.

Alex plans to attend Clemson University on a Football Scholarship and major in Pre-Business.
