by -

Clemson safety commit RJ Mickens helped lead his high school's run to the Texas state 7-on-7 championship game with some clutch catches on Saturdaay.

Mickens posted two game-winning TDs on the day, including this one:

“RJ is awesome to throw to,” Southlake Carroll QB Quinn Ewers told the Star-Telegram. “I trust him and he’ll go up and get it whenever I need him to.”

Mickens has 12 touchdown receptions over the last two seasons with Southlake.

Mickens is among the nine-commit Clemson contingent at The Opening Finals in the Dallas area next week.

He's currently ranked as high as the No. 3 safety in the nation after tallying 192 tackles, 29 pass breakups and seven interceptions over three high school seasons. He picked up district MVP honors last season.

Mickens is the son of longtime NFL cornerback Ray Mickens, who played with the New York Jets, Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots.
