Clemson only signed two offensive linemen in the 2006 recruiting class. A big reason why the Tigers could be very selective on offensive linemen in 2006 was the quality and depth that would be available in 2007.
Clemson will look to continue a strong showing in-state with offensive linemen. One player Clemson has already offered is Greenville's David Smith. Tiger Source recruiting analyst Mickey Plyler scouted Smith in person in 2005, and he believes Smith has a chance to be special. "He was very fundamentally sound as a junior. He was dominant at the line of the scrimmage. He will be compared a lot to Cory Lambert. Smith has a chance to be even better than Lambert." Both in-state schools are showing interest, but Clemson is the only offer for Smith at this time. Smith is being recruited by David Blackwell.
