Former Clemson DB traded to the Dolphins

by - Assoc. Editor -

Former Clemson defensive back and Eagles cornerback Byron Maxwell, Eagles linebacker Kiko Alonso and the 13th overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft have been traded to the Miami Dolphins for the #8 overall pick.

This move will clear cap space for the Eagles with the Dolphins taking on both of their guaranteed salaries.

Maxwell finished a frustrating 2015 season with the Eagles with 64 tackles and two interceptions after signing an enormous six-year, $63 million dollar deal in free agency.

Alonso had a career-low 43 tackles and an interception in 11 games last season. Both players were from the fired Chip Kelly regime.

The Dolphins acquired these two defensive impact players because they were fairly pedestrian with a #25 ranking in total defense last season.
