Report: Parker will be designated for assignment

by - Assoc. Editor -

Former Clemson QB/OF Kyle Parker will be designated for assignment by the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday according to reports by the Denver Post and MLB.com.

Parker will be designated for assignment to make room for Gerardo Parra on the 40-man roster who signed a three-year, 27.5 million contract on Tuesday.

If a player is designated for assignment, that means they will be waived, traded or outrighted to the minors in the next 10 days.

In two MLB seasons (64 games), Parker batted .182 with three home runs and 12 RBIs in 138 plate appearances. Last season at Triple-A Albuquerque, he hit .280 with 9 home runs and 58 RBIs in 93 games.

He was drafted by the Rockies with the 26th overall pick in the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft.
