Mickey,
Have you received any information regarding the release of 2012 football schedule? At the rate they are going, it will be March and usually it is released around the 1st of February. I know it is all tied to ACC and TV contracts, but they should be considerate of the fans that make football games really happen. We have other important things happening in life that require long range planning. I always plan around home football games, but if they wait much longer, the games will have to take 2nd fiddle to other events. It is way past time for the schedule to be out. Thanks!!!
Marie
Marie,
Yesterday the Atlantic Coast Conference office released the following statement on its website Thursday afternoon:
Feb. 16, 2012
We at the Atlantic Coast Conference realize that there's tremendous anticipation for the release of the 2012 ACC Football schedule. The conference office and member institutions are equally in anticipation and are taking steps to expedite finding appropriate solutions. As has been documented, there are a number of unusual circumstances beyond the control of the ACC and its member schools that have directly impacted a number of our school's nonconference schedules, which in turn effects the development and completion of the overall schedule. Please know that all parties are working diligently and we appreciate everyone's continued patience.
I found this to be weak and all most unnecessary. It was reactionary but that is what the ACC is when it comes to football. Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they will play the entire season based upon exercising the six-day window.
Mickey,
Did you all know Brad Felder's (the Citadel transfer) mom is Bobby Felder? She is in the Clemson Hall of Fame for women's basketball and is listed in the Hall of Fame as Bobby Mims. They are related to my brother in law.
Amber
Amber,
That's very cool. I did not know that until this fall when I heard he was making a splash in fall practice. In fact, Brad has played great in the pre-season and will be the starter today when the Tigers open the season. Great story. Thanks.
Hi Mickey,
Please ask Dabo, if you don't know, why he has withdrawn or canceled three scholarship offers? Please ask for an explanation or reason(s). This just does not make sense to me as Dabo is such a good person and I'm all In.
Alex
Alex,
I am sure I missed this story but I have no idea what you are talking about. Please give me more details or maybe one of our readers can give more details. Sorry but I must have missed that story. Hopefully a reader can shed some light on the subject.
Mickey,
What will it take to get are basketball program back up? What's up with the students not showing up at the game?
Gervonte
Gervonte,
I can answer the second question first. This is a trend. Students just are not as engaged in sports as they once were. They do when you win but student attendance is down across the country. Duke is in the top five in the country and the Cameron Crazies are not showing up like they used to. Young people just have chosen to do different stuff now and a .500 record in basketball doesn't interest them. This is an issue everywhere. On the day Georgia won the SEC East in Athens in football this year the student section was half empty.
I do think Brownell and his staff are excellent. They will get this thing turned around and their next few classes will be the key. However, Clemson basketball is historically one of the most difficult jobs in the country. Clemson has the right man for the job but it will take time to rebuild after Purnell left. Two straight recruiting classes of almost nothing have hurt.
Mickey,
What’s up with Glover’s knee. I know he had planned on playing a lot early to get in to some of the WGC events (match play, Doral) but he hasn’t played a round yet. No coverage in the Greenville News. Miss him on tour. I expected good things from him this year after Quail Hollow last year.
David
David,
He hurt it in Hawaii doing some recreational or boating activity on the water. He has not played since and I have not head the timetable for his return. I miss him on tour as well.
Mickey,
On the Swofford question if he does not impose and extra year on UNC how can we as fans get a move going to oust him as commissioner. Does he serve at the permission of the Presidents or what? Personally I feel he should go regardless but maybe that situation (which we all know will happen) could be the catalyst to remove him.
Jim
Jim,
I doubt there is anything fans can do. He seems to be safe as long as he wants the job. The only thing you can do is hope he either gets tired of being incompetent or gets another gig somewhere. Maybe he can get a job in North Carolina's compliance office. They seem to need help.

Couldn't Cobb Oxford start a FB page to oust Swofford?

Two straight recruiting classes of "almost nothing" is a bit too strong. Having to play too many freshmen with some upper classmen that haven' t been as strong as expected is the bigger problem I think.

It really is frustrating to be governed by a ruling body that has rules but chooses when and on whom to enforce them at a whim. I was happy to have some football schools join the conference in VT, Miami, and BC, and hopefully they can join in when we have football decisions to make. The truth is, though, we need football to make a comeback in the ACC in a big way. I am on the fence in tacking on another year for UNC, but I know most folks want them to get it because we got it in 82. I just want ACC football to be relevant again and I want Clemson to beat the crap out of all of em.

One recruiting class with nothing not two. The class that would be sophomores now (his first class) its empty.

Dabo sure seems to know how to surround himself and recruits as well as anyone in the country (save for Darth Saban) , and so I guess the next step is to see how this defensive coordinator hire works out. Wouldn't we be great if our defense improves in Venables first year the way the offense did in Morris' first year. I think we should be prohibitively favorited to win the ACC again this year , although our lines will have to solidify in the offseason and play lights out against Auburn in ATL on Sept. 1st ! Go TIGERS
