Overall Report Analysis-Grades and Comments:
Offense-Rushing
Interior running game- The Tigers ran Ok inside the tackles but really were limited in their touches because of big plays. Davis only carried the ball 8 times.
Perimeter running game-Davis broke the 70-yard run around the right end after some excellent blocking. Spiller was able to get to the edge a couple of times/
Option game- N/A.
Draws- This was not a big part of the game plan.
Short yardage running game- Clemson was actually 0-4 on short yardage situations Saturday.
Yards after contact- This was OK. I don’t remember the backs breaking a ton of tackles.

Offense-Passing
Pass protection-Harper had time for the most part but was sacked three times.
Underneath passing game- Harper was sharp here. He looked comfortable.
Intermediate passing game- It was nice to see Rendrick Taylor back involved. Also the tight ends had a couple of catches.
Vertical passing game-One of the biggest plays of the game was Grisham’s 42-yard reception late in the first half. Harper had time and threw a beautiful ball and Grisham made a tremendous catch.
Screens- The slip screens and bubble screens were OK this week. The Tigers benefit with Taylor as a blocker.
Drops- The receivers dropped a few early but rebounded well in the second half.
Yards after catch- This area does not stand out too much from Saturday.
QB throws on time- Excellent.

Offense-Overall
First down yardage- 16 of the Tigers 29 first down plays resulted in four or more yards including runs of 70, 21, 17 and 16 and a 42-yard pass. Most of the Tigers big plays were on 1st down.
Third down conversion- Six of 14 is a pretty good clip.
Big Plays- This was big in the offense again. On offense Davis went for 70 yards and Grisham’s 42-yarder were momentum changers.
Trick plays- N/A.

Defense-Overall
Tackling-I thought this was one of the Tigers best efforts.
First down yardage- The Tigers held Duke to less than four yards on 16 of Duke’s 24 first down plays.
Third down conversion- Clemson limited the Devils to 5 of 15 on third downs.
Limit of Big Plays- Duke’s longest run was 8 yards. The Blue Devils hit the 40-yard pass over Crezdon Butler but was limited the rest of the game.

Defense-Running game
Interior running game- The Blue Devils had no chance between the tackles. Clemson dominated the line of scrimmage.
Perimeter running game- 28 yards on 30 carries. The Blue Devils had an eight yard run and a seven yard run and only 13 yards on the other 28 carries.
Option game- Duke ran a little option but it was not much of a factor.
Draws- The Tigers were able to limit Duke’s draws.
Short yardage running game- Duke was only 1-3 in short yardage runs.
Yards after contact- One of the better tackling performances by the Tigers this season.

Defense-Passing Game
Pressure- Good but not great. The Tigers were able to get three sacks on the day.
Underneath passing game coverage- Clemson tackled well to limit the Blue Devils here.
Intermediate passing game coverage-This is one area where Duke was able to have success. Early they hit the tight end across the middle a couple of times.
Vertical passing game coverage- One 40-yard gain but nothing after the first quarter.
Screens-Duke was limited here. I would have thought they would have been better in their screen package.
Passes broken up- Nick Watkins and DeAndre McDaniel had the Tigers’ two PBUs.

Open field tackling-Very good effort.

Special Teams
Kickoff returns- The best of the season. Spiller scored on the 84-yarder before halftime and Gilchrest hit on a 66-yard return.
Kick-off coverage- Excellent. The Tigers pinned Duke deep in their own territory.

Punt return/block- Not much of a factor here.

Punt coverage-Snap, protection, punt, coverage- Excellent in every aspect if the game. The snaps were good, protection good, punts were good and coverage was good. Great all around effort.

Field Goals/extra points-snap, hold, protection, kick- Excellent snaps, holds, protection and kicks on the field goal and all six extra points.

Overall Team
Energy, Enthusiasm, Leadership-I thought this was good considering the environment.

Coaching
Emotionally prepared-The Tigers were not sky-high but they did not drag around either. I thought they were ready to play.
Game plan- Excellent on both sides of the ball.
Adjustments- The Tigers have started slow recently but played well after the first quarter,
Personnel-I liked the fact that the staff got Harper, Davis and Spiller out if the game early.
Time outs-Clemson saved their timeouts and used them well to end the first half.
