Final Boston College Notes

Final Boston College Notes
*The offensive line played well. Bowden said they played as well as any offensive line in his tenure at Clemson.

*I thought Will Proctor played as well as I could ever imagine. His vertical passing pleasantly surprised me. Proctor?s touchdown pass to Grisham was a great throw. His best pass of the night went to Rendrick Taylor on third and twelve with a defender in his face. I also think he was in command of the offense and made great decisions. If Proctor plays like that all season, Clemson will win a bunch of football games.

*Chansi Stuckey had a nice game with the exception of the fumble at the goal line and the missed tackle of the kick off return.

*C.J. Spiller showed his potential on the terrific touchdown pass and run and also looked ready to become a bigger part of the game plan. However, the fumble is a concern and on the kickoff returns he needs to hit the hole harder.

*James Davis is Mr. Dependable. Enough said.

*Defensively, I am not a fan of the scheme. Sitting back and not attacking is hard to watch. If Matt Ryan had a bad ankle coming into the game then I think he should have been pressured. I though both teams stayed in their zone defenses too much and gave up some easy passes.

*I don't think it is OK for a coach to call out players.

*Going into the season I thought Clemson was a very good defense but the injuries have the Tigers now fielding an average defense.

*Tackling was poor. BC got too many yards after contact.

*With all that said, the defense still played well enough to win the game.

*Special teams were a nightmare. I don?t understand kicking it to the fastest player in BC history all day long on the kickoffs.

*We criticized Cole Chason during the off-season but it is time to give him credit. He punted the ball well.

*The only thing worse than Clemson special teams was the officiating.

*The trip to Boston was fantastic. The city was OK. It was clean and fairly interesting. Chestnut Hill is a dump. Instead of adding on to their stadium they need to add on to their tailgating which is the worst I have ever seen. I could not imagine anyone wanting to attend school that is located in this area and on this campus. There are not a lot of positives about Chestnut Hill or Boston College.

*The best part of Boston is definitely Fenway Park and the surrounding area. The ballpark is old but clean. I loved the atmosphere. We bought tickets down the third base line but after about four innings we went out with the common folk and had a blast in the bleachers in right field. There is a great energy in Fenway.

*The vendors outside Fenway have an awesome time. They bring energy before the game and add to the Fenway experience.

*It was my son?s first MLB game but I had to promise him we would go to Yankee Stadium next season to see the greatest professional sports franchise.

*After going to the Orange Bowl to watch the Clemson-Miami game and to Chestnut Hill for the Clemson-Boston College game, I can see why they are not college sports cities. If I lived in Boston I would not make a difficult trip to Chestnut Hill on Saturdays. I love college football but I would spend my time in Fenway. The same can be said for the Hurricanes. Why anyone would chose to risk their life to sit in a dump they call the Orange Bowl each week is beyond me. The best thing that came out of the trip to Chestnut Hill is the appreciation I have for living less than a mile and a half from Death Valley.

*The real best news of the trip is that I survived the cab rides. Now I know why the people in the Northeast don?t get into NASCAR, they live it everyday on the way to work. Our cab driver explained in his middle east accent that, ?I got a little loose getting out of the corner but rubbin?s racin?. He started it but we ended it. I just want to thank the best crew in taxi driving and the guys back at the garage for giving me a great engine.?

*Last, I love going to away games and seeing other campuses and stadiums but man the seats don?t allow you to see too much. I can?t stand to sit in the press box but visitors? seats are not much better.
