will not lose being the very talented, very smart young man he is and turn into a social media hound and make statements that he will regret.    There is no doubt that Deshaun Watson is an extremely gifted QB but if you will remember, his offensive line totally had his back, and knees, against a really bad South Carolina defense last fall.   Finally seeing a Clemson offensive line control the line of scrimmage again against South Carolina was a great feeling and those linemen who kept Watson clean and cleared the way for the running backs deserve a huge thank you.

Hopefully, Deshaun Watson will stay healthy this year, the O-Line will control the game again and we will not have to listen to chants in Columbia that will remind us that sometimes it is better to good but to also be humble.

Andy

Andy,

At this point all signs point to Watson being fully recovered before August camp starts. Also the staff has said this is the deepest offensive line we have seen at Clemson since Dabo SwinneyDabo Swinney

took over.

On the flip side, I just don't see South Carolina turning its program back around. Pharroh Cooper is a terrific player but there are a lot of question marks on offense. It all starts at quarterback. Maybe Conner Mitch will be better by November. I think they have major issues at wide receiver. The offensive line has depth issues. The defense should be better at every position but they were awful last year.

Mick,

I have missed the blog lately. Hope you are OK and will return to a normal schedule soon. I am a huge fan. Thanks. Go Tigers.

Cindy

Cindy,

Thanks for the kind words. I have had a few personal issues the last few weeks but hope to resume to a normal schedule with the blog next week. Thanks again.

Mickey,

Has Brownell turned the corner with the three basketball transfers? I hope so. I live in Greenville and am looking forward to seeing the team more often this year.

Chad

Chad,

Avry Holmes will be the only transfer eligible this season. Mitchell and Reed will not be eligible until the following year. I haven't seen a lot of the new guys, but think they will be an upgrade. BTW, it couldn't have been much worse in the backcourt the last couple of seasons. Hopefully he has turned the corner with better shooters.

Mickey,

Will Radakovich pull the trigger and do what should have been done with the baseball program last year? Please tell me he will make the change.

William

William,

At this point it appears to be an easy decision. Now if the Tigers win the ACC tournament or find a way to make it into a regional then it may muddy the waters, but at this point I don't think it is a tough decision. The program has hosted two regionals in the last nine years (including this year). That is below our standards.
