guy called out at second BECAUSE THE UMP SIGNALED A WALK......Not as bad as that homer that was called a foul....but if I was their coach I would be just as mad....

Ump did not signal a walk. He just didn’t know himself. The batter lost count and took off to first

a 3-2 count before the play....called a ball...so the guy went to second. It took a long time for them to sort it out so the UMPS must have been confused...I WAS NOT WATCHING IT. But with the blown calls I have seen with my own two eyes this year, I had no reason to doubt the announcers..

I think both of us are right. Right call in the end. And your point about missed calls this year by umps.
In the end, glad for once it went our way.

It sort of reminded me of the basketball game we had where the other team

goal tended, and Girard got the rebound and laid it in. We got 2 points off of the goal tending call...AND GIRARD REBOUNDED AND LAID IT IN ANYWAY...IMMEDIATELY. Then, about three minutes later during a timeout they reviewed it and ruled it WAS NOT GOAL TENDING and took two points away from us....Beat all I have ever seen....THey way the explained it on the radio was that the ump signalled 3-2 and then called a ball..ump told the runner to go to 2nd where he was tagged out...then they reviewed it....Blah blah blah... Wish I would have seen it live....

Clearly it was 2-2 prior to the pitch.

Yes it was. But the announcers said the ump indicated it was 3-2, and I

We had a mound visit at 1-1 after a throw into the dirt. When play resumed the umpire indicated 2-1 (when it was really 1-1). Then after a ball and a strike you can see the umpire indicate 3-2 (instead of 2-2). Next pitch was a (close) ball (looked a little inside), and everyone acted like it was a walk (except a few of our infielders).
In retrospect I'd be ticked if I was the UNCC coach as the umpire signaling the wrong count and sticking with it seems like it sohuldn't put the runner in jeopardy, but I suppose those are (evidently) the rules.

Well, given that that pitch was a strike I was pissed that he got to bat again.

First off…. That really looked like strike 3. Then I’m not so sure that the ump did anything but call,it a ball…and the batter just took off toward first . Glad our coaches/ players are smarter than the ump and tagged the runner out while he WALKED to second base. After much confusion ….that was the right call

Agree with you, the more they replayed that pitch, the more I was dumbfounded.

Nice play if you can get away with it. If the runner had gotten to 2nd he would have been safe and the batter would finish his at bat. The HP Ump should/could have called the batter back but the runner on first was on his own.
