The memories will be lost. They will only exist in some ancient photos that somebody may go back and glance at to see a glimpse of what Clemson was.

I ran the old underground for a few years after graduation. Good times, I'd love to have a few keepsakes from it if any local hooligans want to go grab some things for me.

some of you might put that in the short term category.
Plenty of other places need to be re-done/updated for donor money to find it's home.
And you know it took forever to find the money for the business school. Big money like that does not grow on trees around Clemson.

I was cruising through a student parking lot afterwards looking for a spot to jump out and pee because I had to go like I never had to go before. I saw a police car and decided to keep driving. They pulled me over on Perimeter Rd and the officer asked why I was cruising slowly through the parking lot and I was like.
IDK why, but I ended up in that terlit and the relief was memorable. Just like the skin that was rubbed off my peanus that night from the worst hj I ever received. Thanks, Karen.

My CU regrets: never lived in Johnstone and did not go to Edgars enough
4

As a freshman I was put into the basement of Norris Hall as the fraternity in there did not have enough members to fill up all rooms. There were three or four rooms like that so there weee a few others in the same situation and the fraternity guys were cool about the whole thing. Spent time in Johnstone but still feel like I missed out on an important right of passage.
Edgar’s. ####! Only went in there a handful of times. Maybe it was because by trh time I could legally drink I’d moved out to Central. Was too scared to use my fake ID there way back.
Ok. Enough about me. Goodbye to the past.

My son’s freshman year at UT last year, his roommates Dad had some Knoxville connections that got them in the nice dorms. It was a bunch of boring nerds and all the while his friends who were in UT’s version of Johnstone were having the time of their lives living in squalor. He already regrets the move and I should have been more vocal in my suggestion that he forego the luxury dorm.

curriculum in culture for me, the university should have issued me a degree for it. Worked there part-time for a couple of years, hung out there frequently, and received a music education that still sticks with me to this very day. It was also the first place I ever ran sound for live bands and the first place I ever played the bass on stage in front of an audience. Wish I'd kept a journal to name all of the bands I saw but off the top my head, The Killer Whales, Swimming Pool Q's, The White Animals, The Heartfixers with Tinsley Ellis and Chicago Bob Nelson, Men In Trees, Butch & The Buckheads, #### Childs Guitar Army, The Insect Surfers, The Clemson Honky Tonk Sympathy Orchestra...so many others.

The drinking age during those golden years was 18. The legal age moving to 21 and the intense focus on responsible drinking and the accompanying liability pretty well killed what allowed Edgar's to be what it was while located on a college campus. In the late 70s/early 80s, Edgar's met every criterion of what a great dive bar is.

Guess the rest of it will be gone now.
Shared restrooms/showers on the floor is an experience kids these days miss out on. They have no idea what shenanigans went on.

That looks like A and A annex if I recall. I spent a year looking down over the front doors to Harcombe off the upper right of the photo, where C802 would have been, or maybe C602. Whatever the top floor was.
I miss those tin-siding walls, the wooden husbands with the gun stock slots, and trudging down beer and pixx-soaked carpet halls every morning to the gang showers and toilets with no doors. More of a "prison" experience than a "green experience."
It was already 30-year-old "temporary housing" when I went through. I guess that last part is 70 now?

It's a cluster of 5 little dorms that look like, well, shoeboxes. Here's one. You can see the smokestack in the rear for location reference. Greer, Cope, Sanders...something and something.

I worked every semester except for spring of 88. Other than that one period I spent almost no time on campus other than hanging out and studying on Tue and Thurs nights to see our basketball team play. I saw one game in Death Valley during my days as a student there.
Most of my time was spent in Lee Hall which if they tear down I'll rejoice.
I'm sorry that things are changing for you guys who did so much growing up there. I'm really sorry for you.

I had four children when I enrolled and 5 when I graduated. I actually took time off work to walk across the stage.
My wife, our 5 children, my sister and her 5 were there sitting in the nosebleed seats and all screamed 'GO DADDY!' as I walked across the stage. The crowd loved it.

If I were there in my 30s, I would probably want to get it done as quickly as possible. Totally different experience than if you come in at 17.
At that point you probably had more in common with the professors than the students.
