Doing it as a baby is for the parents, not the child. Baby didn't have a choice.
Him going through the process as an adult gives it actual meaning.

Wrong. Baptism is a means of grace through which the Holy Spirit works to create and strengthen faith. It should be done as an infant. Parents have nothing to do with it.

Just me, and not judging at all. I feel that it is a response to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It is a public statement of faith, and infants obviously can’t make that decision.
I also feel like biblically adult baptism makes the most sense. I would just think that if infant baptism is how we proceed then Jesus should have been baptized as a child and not an adult.
Major decision for Phil maffa, very happy for him and excited to see the kingdom grow.

As a Jew Jesus would’ve been circumcised as an infant. Baptism replaced circumcision as the new covenant sign of Gods promises to his people. Obviously believers in adult baptism would argue differently. Baptism is not an essential element of faith and salvation so the two sides agree to disagree on infant Baptism.

That is exactly my point.
I was baptized as an infant and it had little direction on my life. My family were holiday Christians and it was never something I practiced. Not my thing but I respect other peoples choice of faith.
Him making this decision as a cognizant adult means so much more to the path he is currently on

I was very precocious as an infant.

It’s important to emphasize Jesus was always divine in his humanity. It was appropriate for him to demonstrate the distinction of John’s baptism as an adult in his ministry. Baptism is an action upon our soul by the Holy Spirit. Those who are baptized as infants are under the stewardship of their parents and god parents into adulthood to help develop their faith, hope, and charity. It’s a different approach to baptism as an adult but no less worthy of a process to become a Christian.

We are all pilgrims on a journey in this world. There’s just God’s will for our pilgrimage, so if anyone is feeling called to become Christian then I encourage you to answer that call. There’s no such thing as being late.
