Don't forget about the Big 12

The Big 12 is better in FB than the ACC. Look at the teams and what they have accomplished in the last 3 years. The majority of the teams care about FB. I'm talking about the new Big 12 without TX and OK. If Clemson doesn't go to the SEC then I think the Big 12 would be better than the Big 10. The big reason is the non FB sports. Clemson going to the Big 10 would kill the spring sports. Of course it comes down to money from a TV contract.

My guess is there is going to be a football only division and all other sports will fall into what we know as a traditional 5 power conference set up. Could be wrong, but that is what it is looking like.

BIG all the way. Darn the rest of whatever it pays out the most and any more the rest really matters little. I would rather stay put in the ACC but needs must.....

I like it Newnan. I like their commissioner. If they can renegotiate a media deal that comes close to sec and b1g, it'd be fun.

I have liked the Big12 idea. Add a few more teams like Clemson and FSU.
Their money can’t help but be better than what we are locked into.

The Big 12 is a terrible idea. The only reason to leave the conference in the first place is to get more money. The Big 12 wouldn't pay any more money than the ACC.

Backs up your assertion. Just thinking through the teams….without Texas &Oklahoma. Perhaps there are some solid programs… But the ACC has its share of those. I guess their lower tier teams might be better than the ACC’s lower tier. But Clemson & FSU are probably better than everyone left in that conference.
That being said…if the $ is right…could be a good option if some ACC schools were going together.

How do you figure? I’m sure that conference is not done and the ACC is locked into to the worst deal possible.

For one because they don't make more money now. Two, the Big 12 doesn't have the value to get enough money to make it worthwhile for Florida State and Clemson to move over there. With the media Market Footprints not really being a factor anymore, then it's about name brand and the Big 12 just really doesn't have it. They don't really have anything more than the ACC does.

Agree. I don’t understand where this idea that the Big12, a conference full of castoffs that isn’t even in our footprint, is better than the ACC.

Two teams that we will rarely play is not a logical reason to jump into an entire conference of teams not in our footprint. A LESSER conference.

The new big12 without UT and the Okies is a sham...Baylor is nill...TCU was a passing fancy...Okie St has a coach ...what else...Clemson is probably on everyone's shopping list...after all patience is a virtue...I doubt if anyone truly wants FSU without Vraylar...UNC is still a joke, they can't finish a season and Virginia can't find a coach!..The only team in America with a real resume is CCC ...SEC would take us in a flash if we really wanted it...they could dump the poultry, sailors and whisky peddlers in one swoop!..Saban once said after he beat CCC the first time that he feared Us and if the game had continued Bama would have lost! High praise from a GOAT! Stay the course Dabo!

In 2018, Ohio State played TCU at Jerryworld. I went up to watch it. Jerryworld is like 10-15 miles from TCU’s campus. Both Teams were top 20. Ohio State fans outnumbered TCU fans AT LEAST 2 to 1. Baylor is largely the same. Small private school with small following. Houston and Cincy are very much only followed by some in their cities. The rest are meh schools that play second or third fiddle in their state, or are apathetic when it comes to football. Their “best” matchup of the whole season, would probably be about the 4th or 5th best matchup of the week in the SEC or B1G. No one moves the proverbial needle. No one is must see tv. The B1G and SEC are going to try to schedule to make every time slot have a big game. Who is gonna watch the Big 12 games? When it’s Georgia vs LSU or Oregon vs Ohio State, who is tuning in for Oklahoma St vs Utah? what is the Big 12's most interesting game? Probably involves Colorado for now.

This is based on not going to the SEC which so many people are against. The Big 10 would be fine for basketball and football but terrible for the other sports. If FSU leaves the ACC the conference is pretty much dead from any decent TV deal in the future. Clemson would be better off in the Big 12 at that point over the Big 10 based off of the other sports. If Clemson and FSU joined the Big 12 they could get a better TV deal.

If FSU leaves, better Clemson Football will be right behind

And if not, I prefer waiting a year or two in lackluster ACC, then making a move to SEC or B1G ($$) over a move to lackluster BIG 12.

If the backstabbing at FSU leaves the ACC still has Clemson...a power brand...the big 12 w/o TX and okies has little to offer...Clemson was still powerful even when FSU had WillieT and 20K in the stands with little power...we have brand power, so does UNC! What do they expect to gain, FSU will always be stained because of their own action back to Dumbo Fishnet and FSU athletics!

In the end, it is irrelevant.

We are heading to a group of 48-64 teams that are going to be in the top group of football teams. (Call it whatever you want.) Those are the teams that will be on TV all day on Saturdays. And those are the teams that will be competing for "the national championship." Clemson just needs to be in that group.

I agree. However, I have a hard time seeing it get any bigger than 48. B1G and SEC will have 34 teams combined next year. There aren’t that many teams that move the needle or open up new states. FSU, ND, UNC, Clemson, and maybe VA have been mentioned as possible additions. Past that, it’s slim pickins. Perhaps there are a few others sometime in the future. However, The P2 are not going to want to share equally with the other conferences. The only way the Big 12 and what’s left of the ACC are part of the playoff, is if they take less money and considerably less auto bids. Maybe like 4 B1G and 4 SEC to maybe 2 ACC and 2 Big 12. If that happens then I can certainly see 64 teams.

Big 12 is already better in basketball, too. They play "Battle Ball" out there where every game is a war zone.

It's up to ESPN. Clemson just can't pick up its equipment and leave. FSU is taking a low probability gamble.

Never is happening.
Financially doesn’t make sense
Not that many people are against the SEC. It would be hugely supported. Sure there will be some traditionalists who don’t like change. Nothing is ever 100%.
Enjoy the ride people.. It’s OK to acknowledge that we are one of the hottest chicks at the dance.
