Thanks. I was going to post the same message here. (Different source, but the quote is identical.)
Lane is a very controversial figure in football. But whatever his other qualities are (good or bad) I've always seen him to be open and honest when it comes to giving his opinion.

It’s come down to 17-22 year old high school & college kids..

maybe many of them from poor environments and/or single parent families who see $ b/4 education..
as IF true then the Student/Athlete title is a sham, and maybe was all the time.
Now, some coaches have gotten out of being loyal too and are chasing the $.
Guess it’s Even-Steven time and the truth that big time college football is played with innocent & loyal high school boys has finally cracked.
HellO human Greed!

He's right. It's just like in the NFL. Theres always players who grow up Packer or Pittsburg fans and dream of playing there. Then when given the option they go where they are offered the most money. They see more money as being 'wanted' more. They go where they feel wanted.

Sadly, you almost can't blame them...

This is the college football world that has been created.
Any Tiger fans with big wallets or pocketbooks? Going to need them.
Or maybe we can set up a go-fund -me to pay for players?
I think this has not gone exactly like anyone, including the players, expected.

Are you serious?? This has gone exactly like most reasonable people knew it would. And if the playoff is expanded it will go exactly as most think: ruination of the regular season, rivalry games and bowl structure. TV is steering the entire college football world hoping to narrow it down to 30 or so blue bloods and imitate the NFL.

I think we will end up with two leagues of cfb…

…The paid minor league of the nfl league which will be the biggest 8 or 10 schools and then everyone else who will have true student athletes.
I don’t see Clemson being able to keep up.

I tend to agree. I also would say, "Would Clemson even WANT to try and keep up?"

At this point, I would actually prefer they completely divorce college football from college affiliation…at least for the programs that want to continue down this road. I’ll hang with those who prefer a collegiate-based system with just scholarships. Sure, the level of play will be diminished, but at least it will be fair (or more fair). Kids in this system may rarely draw the attention of the NFL, but they will have a free education.

Every Kid isn't on NIL deals; so how are they getting paid?
Dec 14, 2021, 3:44 PM

Just kidding!
I know how they will get paid!
But, the transfer portal itself isn't doing it. It's the opportunity to perhaps get some under the table money. The NCAA should not act stupid in this and pretend they don't see it. Take Frank Ladson who is not a star and is not someone who would get a NIL deal. The most he can do is go be a solid player for a team out there(he would have to avoid the injury bug and really come on). Mike Jones Jr. left for LSwho( for what )? Was it more to help lswho or to hurt CU? Some of these kids are also being lured away in order to hurt the school they are leaving! Keep that in mind. If the number from the SEC commissioner is true then most of these kids aren't being picked up at all. Thus ruining their opportunity for "real pay days"!
