The FUTURE of Clemson Football

Chestypuller made a similar post earlier and I agree 100 percent with him, sooner or later a lot of these recruits I feel will see the authenticity of our FB program and how we separate our selves from the rest of the college football world. I think Dabo is doing things the right way. In terms of morals this program and the way Dabo runs things is about the best it gets in college and it’s commendable. One might say well it’s not getting the job done though. But in the long run I think it does because while everyone else is changing their entire dna into a portal team like a lot of big schools and just practically buying players we’re staying true to what’s right. Don’t get me wrong I think that we could use a couple transfers but being sold into the transfer portal is not what were about as Clemson Football. I think the current players and the players of the future who decide to play for Clemson will rally around this idea and ultimately get us back to the level we were on! Let me know what yall think?

if they persist during the times that most others are giving into whatever fad, or rule-breaking agenda, or $ making scheme, or short-cut to success that seem to capture the evil or tangled minds of humans wanting an easy way to do what’s moral and/or right.
Thus, we are seeing the greed, confusion & turmoil being caused already for the players, schools & coaches and now the grown-ups, courts and administrations are having to step into the void of sanity so to save the game we love..Football~

I agree and I also think the more the talking heads talk negatively about Dabo not using the portal, the bigger the chip and we all know how our coach loves to use that chip as a motivator! Our players love our coaches and will definitely want to prove we’re much better than the naysayers are giving us credit for. Go Tigers!

The only problem is that the top 5-10 programs recruit HS kids at a high level as well as tamper/buy experienced players in the portal to augment the roster each year at the margins. These schools don't really turnover their roster each year in a wholesale manner like the portal poster child Colorado.

Yes, very true and then when it’s all said and done are these schools going to play the Freshmen or the players they’ve paid the mega bucks to!

Is that your problem or Dabos problem...you have totally missed the point or you disagree with Clemson and what we appear to stand for! Can't have it both ways!

Time will tell. The best HS recruits as well as portal players are going to be paid. That is the whole purpose of the revenue sharing HOUSE VS NCAA lawsuit. If you want the best players, you gonna have to pay them. Same as the pro sports free agency.
If a team chooses not to pay for play, and share revenue with players, if in power 4, they will end up in federal court and will lose.

I think the top programs will take advantage of attracting the best talent available based on needs and gaps. Where it comes from will be largely irrelevant.

If the college football operating model that has been in place the last 3 years

Is the permanent model; then we won't win another natty without getting at least a few key players each year from the portal. The old axiom in recruiting is that it isn't the players you don't get that hurt you it's the players you do who can't play. That doesn't apply anymore to teams who use the portal; if a guy isn't who you thought they were at jawja you just ship him off and get another one from the portal. Whether you think that wrong or right the teams who do it have an advantage we just can't overcome.

If you are a power 4 team, with revenue sharing going into effect in 2025, each team will be sharing up to 30 million a yr. With players. So, you are going to pay for play. How teams choose to do it, is up to them. With that much money being available to players, where do you think the best are going?
Don't be a Jim Phillips and think that money does not matter. If a team decides not to pay, that team's only choice is to join a non power 4 conference.
Fans need to learn about the revenue sharing settlement and why it is being implemented.

The attorneys representing House is on board with the revenue sharing plan which is going to be adopted before May 25. That will settle the pending lawsuits.

Because they’re the ones who proposed it. The NCAA has to agree to it and then you have to find a way to show that it legally applies to every school and conference who also have their own independent decision makers. Then months later when you finally navigate all of those mine fields the difficult work of trying to implement these initiatives. Even if all of the 100s 0f parties agree to all of this in principle it’s still gonna take years to make it a reality. Here’s one take of what remains to get this to the finish line:

Dabo needs to stick to his philosophical principles. In today's society, too many "short cutters' are dominating the world, prompting corrupt values and "outlaw" methods to beat out the other guy. All NIL and the transfer portal will serve to lead to cheating scandals and disloyal and selfish athletes, as evidenced in the Michigan scandal. The Ryan Days and Mike Norvell's of the world are outlaws, looking any way to win, and sooner or later, the reaping will bring them down. There's an old saying, "If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything". Athletes now don't give a da__ about anything but making a quick buck, and jumping ship if things don't go their way. Coach Swinney, don't let what the revilers say cause you to betray your core beliefs, and make Clemson another immoral football program.

Using the portal and helping our players maximize their NIL isnt immoral.

What is immoral though is Dabo accepting his salary as the second highest paid football coach but failing to use all legal channels available to make our team better.

We’ve underachieved three years in a row, steadily increasing our losses each year.

Clemson hasn't taken a lot of transfers but they have tried to get some and taken a couple. Do you consider Dabo an "outlaw" and Clemson a cheat? How about the players...are they disloyal, selfish, only interested in making a buck? Or, do those labels only apply to other coaches and players? You know, the ones you don't like?

without a change in the following Clemson will not see the 2015-2019 type years again.
1. Dabo's approach to combat the new era of CFB or 2. The new era of CFB changes to fit what it used to be
have a hard time seeing the 2nd happening.

to use the portal for those extra scholarships that are given to the Daniel High Walk-on Pipeline.
A Sr former 3* in my opinion is greater than a freshman 2* or 3*. An extra QB or WR in the last few years could have made a difference.
CDS's system works if player evaluation in the recruiting process is clicking. We've got great players on O & D. However, a few performances have not lived up to expectations.
I think the biggest challenge for Clemson Football is to leave the ACC for the more lucrative conferences. More money from them can redirect more IPTAY money into the NIL's.

Agree 100% and have said so several times in previous posts. The TP/NIL situation as it stands is unsustainable in the long term. Sooner or later the money will run out, and most likely because donors aren’t seeing the results they wanted.
The current system is fundamentally flawed - it depends on rules being broken from the get go: I.e., tampering. Dabo’s not going to do that even if it puts him at a disadvantage. He will overcome that doing what he’s always done: good coaching and commitment to his players
Name a D1 team that was a better TEAM than they would have been without the portal. Even FSU. Their best player QB was a transfer sure - from Syracuse as a redshirt freshman then 4 yrs under Taggert then Norvell. And when he went down most of his mainly TP mates opted out, leading to the CFP and bowl game debacles. How is that a better “”team”? The travesty of that scenario wasn’t that FSU was left out of the CFP but that most of the starters bailed. How would we feel about our program if that had happened?
Sucks to be FSU. Their fans don’t know what they’re getting from one season to the next. Every fan base crosses their fingers to some extent every season but at least we’ve seen our guys play together as a TEAM, instead of as a group of talented individuals.

This program will remain stagnant until the transfer portal is being utilized. Just wait til UGA drops a 50 burger on them in the Dome. Does anyone really think Klubnik is a Championship caliber QB?
