Wimmins. Wimmins can get so worked up over hypothetical

shid that a) hasn't happened, and b) is very unlikely/improbable to happen and it's a phenomenon that is soooo wimmin-like.
TRDJuanita2 (in college, no pigs): Hey guys I need to put a deposit down on housing for next year like right now or I may have to move off campus. Dorms are overcrowded and enrollment is rising.
Me: Uh. Ok. Whatevs. (sends money).
TRDJuanita2 several week later (last week): ZOMG I got a low lottery number and so did my future roomates and ZOMG it's turrible because it looks like we are going to have to live off campus.
TRDJuana (wife, no pigs): ZOMG WE NEED TO START WORKING ON THIS RIGHT NOW IT'S GOING TO BE TOUGH TO FIND AFFORDABLE HOUSING CLOSE TO CAMPUS AND WE GOTTA GET WASHERS AND DRYERS AND FURNITURE AND CABLE AND ELECTRICITY AND WATER AND INTERNET AND SIDFKJPSDIJFIPUSDHFEREFKJENFWTHWEHRU.
Me: Mmmk. Calm it down. Let's sort through this.
After a painful amount of questioning from me to TRDJuanita2, I figure out the following: *Maybe...MAYBE 200 kids won't get housing *All incoming freshmen are guaranteed housing *The remaining 3 classes get a lotter number either 1, 2, 3, or 4. *1s get first pick. Then 2s, then 3s, then 4s *TRDJuanita2 has #4. All of her 3 future roommates also have #4. *If one of the 4 roommates get's picked for housing, her 3 roommates do too.
Using the maths, I figure out that about half of the 4's won't get housing. So it's basically a 50/50 chance. HOWEVER, they get 4 shots at it.
I'm like ya'll calm TF down. Your odds of not getting housing are about the same as not getting a single "tails" with 4 flips of a quarter.
As wimmins do, it's all like WHATEVER THIS IS A REAL ISSUE AND WE'D BE FOOLS TO NOT ADDRESS IT and I'm all like hey can we finish up the spring semester before freaking TF out about the fall?
Oh, and 3 days later they got housing and everyone was happy but they didn't even tell me because man and right and so I bring it up and they are all like oh yeah we figured we were good and sure enough got housing and I'm all like FML what these hens getting all worked up over some shid that ain't happened and ain't gonna happen for SMH goober like deroberts the end.

daughter of at CLemson did almost the exact same thing. I asked her, talk to your coach and see what she recommends (after I already sent her a $1,000 deposit earlier.
She texts later, Coach says I can stay on campus again.
RH Tig are you leasing your apartment in CLemson ? If so, I may be asking about a year from now

We were headed to the Little River to go grabbling. There is a woman in front of us and we stopped at a red light or a stop sign and she has this Dalmatian riding shotgun. I said to my buddies "Did you know 70% of dalmatians are deaf?" I scream out "HEY DOG!" as loud as I can and the dog turns around and looks at us. So we says "I guess that one's not".

had these issues with all 3 clashettes. and each time exclash went haywire - now now now!
i remained calm and suggested some things. when they panned out - not a word.
same with cars. i kept saying toyota and girls went through hondas, shiddy bmw suv, mercedes suv. of course i would say things like maintenance, gas, etc. shid hits fan on cars and now they drive 4runner, rav, and the juan in grad school rides bike buses and trains in bahston. maybe us pops ain’t so stupid.

You did everything correctly, except your close.
Tell the wimmins you were worried about it had already put a non-refundable deposit on an off campus apartment.
You can get out of the lease, but won't get your $1,500 deposit back... you only wish you hadn't listed to them and gone with your gut.
Then schedule a weekend somewhere...work related so you'll be by yourself...and take the $1,500 and go relax somewhere.

My wife is a strategic planner, she is a director of compliance so you can imagine the compliance I’m expected to have. Yet I have no compliance, I fly by the seat of my pants bc it’s fun and I live like that. She gets upset at times bc I’m not compliant but we actually make a great team bc she does all the right things and I’m an old hippie that used to have dreads and I don’t always do the right things so that’s fun for her.

You men people just get to float through life, not a care in the world

Which reminds me of a "conversation" husband and I had last night. I remarked that he just gets to float through life, not a care or a worry in the world.
Him: Huh? I do NOT get to float through life. I help out a lot
Me: Yes you do, when we go on a vacation you basically just get to pack your own clothes and show up. (This came after I spent time pricing travel insurance for an upcoming trip to the Bahamas because I had a sudden revelation that we were one slip/broken bone away from an absolute headache getting off the Out Island with easy commercial flights home only once a week... not to mention lack of decent medical care where we are)
Him: I help son pack
Me: But who purchased all of the clothes, making sure he has everything he needs... and also daughter of and you.
Him: But I'm not floating through life
Me: You fall asleep the minute your head hits the pillow, I lie awake for hours.. my mind planning and making decisions and to do lists while you snore. I solve problems for everyone before they even happen.

your husband works his nutz off in a high paying stressful environment for 9 hours every day up hill both ways so he can fund your shopping trips with your daughter and the other things she "needs" like daily $200 runs to Target and starbucks and $100 sweatshirts and $150 leggings and trips to the bahamas and travel insurance and the mortgage and travel sports and cars and bills and retirement funds and yeah the MF falls asleep ok because he's ALREADY planned his next work day and is tired AF.
I mean, maybe not in your hood but it's the GD reality in a lot of places round these parts.

I mean, I get that... but I also have my own high paying stressful work environment situation and to be honest there just isn't a lot of down time in either of our lives right now. My hair has felt like it's on fire for the last couple of months. I'm not a slacker, and even when I stayed at home with the kids for 8 years I was an over achieving type. I'm not bragging, it's just the way I'm wired.
I solidly believe men and women are wired differently.

For me, I'm just never gonna worry about stuff that ain't worth worrying about.
Also, have never and probably never will buy travel insurance. And this kinda sums up the OP I reckon.
Another example: We've had kids go to the ER 4 times now in the past 3 years. Every single time I'm all like NO DO NOT DO THAT THEY ARE FINE. And they were. They're just soft, and when something isn't completely perfect a big yuge game of freakthefuckout breaks out. I mean, the non-male adults in our fam have self diagnosed all sorts of big worded major medical problems that turned out to be nothing burgers.
I've been sick 3 times in my life. Flu, flu, covid. That's it. No Dr visit for any of them. My whole life. Half of a century. Yet I pay a GD co-pay for a Dr visit seemingly monthly at worst.
And yes, wired completely differently. No doubt.

to the next hospital alive.
So as a result I'm probably going to worry about those what ifs a little more than most, and I'm ok with that.
So a 3rd world country where the airport looks like a road side fruit stand makes me a little edgy.

reduce the cost of healthcare in this country by about 879% if doctors just told a lot of parents "no, don't bring them for that". And then those kids grow up to be little hypochondriacs themselves, perpetuating the cycle of needless doctors visits and creating exponentially more of them.
Technology certainly doesn't help, did you know there's a sock you can buy for babies that gives you real time information on their heart rate, oxygen levels, etc.? No telling how many pointless doctors office/ER visits that stupid fugging sock has caused.

This is fine 999/1000 times, but it’s the one time it’s something serious and if you miss it you get sued and your career is potentially ######. Lawyers are the reason most things suck.

it up and down stairs, back and forth to the car/boat, etc. I go through this all of the time, if it's just me and my son we can magically get by with 1 bag and a cooler. Really just a cooler would be OK. We can decide to go camping and be out the door in under 30 minutes. Wife and daughter come along? Multiply the amount of stuff and time to pack/plan by 10. I went basically my entire life without needing a towel aside from getting out of the shower, now we have no less than 4 wherever we go. Outfits to backup other outfits, cases of water, 3 weeks worth of snacks for a 3 day trip, jackets even though it's not forecasted to be below 75 degrees....The list goes on.
I don't think she even realizes it, but her insistence on bringing so much #### has essentially turned me into a truck driver/sherpa. I put stuff in the back of my truck just so I can say we can't bring more bags. You bought brand new clothes for the vacation, didn't you? Of course you did, because that's what happens. Then you go somewhere and buy even more #### to bring home. It just keeps snowballing, I promise if this dynamic sounds similar he is not floating through life. It's taking all of his inner strength to not snap when he's lugging all of that #### around.

Hallelujah.
I get what you are saying, having small kids requires a lot of stuff. However, I travel light and smart (because I spend so freaking long planning ahead of time).
18 days in Europe last summer in a carry on and a backpack for all 4 of us.

We'd have to have a few railroad containers sent on a cargo ship in advance.
Actually, THEY would have to have that. I'd get by with a backpack and a computer bag.
A week at the beach in FL or SC? I'm a backpack half filled with my shid, and half filled with someone else's shid.

Sorry, but...

Which reminds me of a "conversation" husband and I had last night. I remarked that he just gets to float through life, not a care or a worry in the world.
I don't know a single married man (or divorced, for that matter) who "floats through life" without a "care or worry in the world." I know a lot who are overworked, stressed to no end, depressed, and miserable--and their wives then irrationally lose it on them when they want to take a break for an afternoon beer with a friend.
Let me know what he does for a living and all day long so I can sign up.

Never claimed that husband of didn't work hard (quite the opposite, probably the hardest working man I know) just that he doesn't spend the time worrying about things like most women do. He didn't exactly understand what I was saying at first either.
He manages a sales team in a high pressure/high stakes/high dollar sales environment (people can actually die if what he sells has problems). Travels 50-75% of the time. Still shows up as a Dad and a husband... when he's home he even takes the kids so I have a little time to myself in the morning. I am blessed and proud to be married to one of the all around best men I know.
I'm not wearing my lululemon leggings to target and spending money while he's doing all this. Reading through all of these comments, I think some of y'all have a fundamental belief that women don't work as hard as men. I've also got a full time job while also taking pretty good care of everyone in our house. The kids schedules, meals, laundry, scheduling... all me. Not because he's lazy but because I'm more organized and better suited for all of it. When he's out of town everything falls 100 percent on me, which can be a lot. We 100 percent make the choice in this phase of life that the kids come first, so my "time off" is taking the kids to their sports, making sure they are keeping up with their school work, making sure everyone has what they need, helping run the God awful PTA and some other volunteer work in the classrooms, on local charity boards. I tend to go over and beyond what most working parents do, and that is definitely a choice but I also work hard to provide the means to be able to do a little bit more. Anyone who has kids and has spent time in schools there are a lot of kids who don't get much of anything at home... and I've seen that on both ends of the socio-economic spectrum.

I definitely am not one who thinks this, but I see your point.

Preach...

we spent all day yesterday dealing with step-daughter one and step-daughter two and some conflict coming up where SD1 (I think of these kids as my kids, but the S designation is important as to why I didn't handle the whole mess on my own) and SD2 are coming home to see SS in a play. SD1 is bringing her now long term boyfriend to see the play. SD2 is bringing her future roommate, who happens to be the sister of SD1's last and only other long term boyfriend.
SD2 only became best friends with the sister of about two years after SD1 finally realized that ex-boyfriend was a POS. (and boy-howdy what a POS) However, ex-boyfriend is getting married and SD1 isn't taking it that great (which I keep pointing out is its own set of problems) so wife of wants to spare SD1 the pain of dealing with this girl.
So my solution is to call SD2 and say, Hey, it's a little disrespectful to your sister to bring this chick and make them stay in the same room given the history.
But wife of does not want either kid mad at her, so when she goes to pick up SS, she convinces him to handle it.
Which he does following the method I outlined. And everything is fine.

And yet, these are the same people who will casually walk into a lion's mouth, and then expect you to get them out.
But, we luvs em. We must be really nuts.

This is mine with hurricane prep

She is obsessed with hurricanes. No exaggeration, she's tracking storms the moment they form off the coast of Africa. She has bought us all sorts of supplies and crap we probably won't ever use. We even have one of those tubes that purifies dirty water. Which I guess will be better for the upcoming civil war.
She wants me to test the generator out all the time. We live on the same power grid as a fire department. In five hurricanes or so, we've lost power for a total of two hours at most.
In the days leading up to the storm, this is the constant dialogue we have: Her: "Are you SURE we shouldn't evacuate." Me: "No. It will be a Cat 1." Her: "I think I may still want to go up to Greenville." Me: "Fine. You can go. I'm staying here." Her: "They say this one is going to hit us on the dirty side (whatever that means)." Me: "I'll buy more beer then. I'm not leaving."
Supplies, obsession, watching that #### Mike's Weather Page, constantly asking if we should evacuate (she has a list of must bring items and our Roomba is on of them for some reason).
Then the hurricane hits and she naps through the whole thing while I get #### faced in the garage with the neighborhood boys.
Rinse and repeat for the next one.

Homes are built much better to withstand a Hugo. Ours is. We also don't live in a flood zone area. I'm not saying I'm cavalier about all of it, but she goes way over the top and worries about every little tiny possible thing that could happen during a hurricane.
If Hugo or Katrina Part Deux comes along, we'll have more serious talks.

BTW..I lost a roof from a tree after Gaston on a house built in 2001. Gaston was barely a Cat 1 when it was recategorized as a 1 after sitting offshore as a tropical storm for a few days.

And it really was nothing, but that's also where I live in Charleston. We're in a nice spot to weather hurricanes compared to many others.
