I think a healthy FSU probably keeps the Orange Bowl within 28 points.

Healthy FSU is not staying on the field with any of the 4 playoff teams. I thought their dismantling on and off the field put an end to the debate.

Doesnt matter

UGA lost to Bama knowing what was at stake. Bama and Texas also lost when chips were stacked on the table. The only legit complaint is FSU who earned a shot and was denied because even though they played their way in, a committee felt two teams that had already lost games should get another try. What should matter is not who is better, but who WINS when it’s on the line. Like literally every other sport.

agree... and, that's why all this talk will end next season. and #13 fighting for the last spot don't count. SOMEBODY'S gotta be first the first ones left out.

The 5th and 6th place teams will argue they should have been 4th and gotten a bye.
The 9th and 10th place teams will argue they should have been in the top 8 and got to play a home game.
The 13th and 14th place teams will argue they should have gotten an invitation.
Arguments and debates and cries of injustice will increase.

Agree. This 12 team playoff only shifts the line where teams and fans feel slighted (and are convinced of conspiracy).

sure there'll be talkin' points, but at the end of the day, if you're in the top 12, you get your chance. and, if you're not in the top 12, you weren't winning the natty, anyhow. as for the complaining, there's ALWAYS gonna be complainers. we had complainers before the bcs... during the bcs.. and obviously the cfp 4 cause complaints. tell me a system that no one will be able to complain.

Absolutely correct. Will give Ocryo St even more opportunities to whine no matter what they are ranked.

But, at least you will have the opportunity to "unequivocally" play your way to a top seed and a bye, or at least a home game. No committee will be able to do what it did to FSU this year!
Similar to Clemson basketball last year, the debate will center around teams that have very little chance to win a championship. For me, that is a positive step and I was not originally in favor of expansion.

In the words of Boo Corrigan, "They won all their games and their conference championship."
When it comes to any tournament, any year, the outcome ultimately is subjective when a committee determines who gets the invitation and who is left out.
And, the committee has the power to change their criteria from year to year, and from any team to any other team in any given year.
I'm an old man. 30 years ago I would have been apoplectic that FSU was left out. Now, I just accept the fact that you can be disappointed with the decision and think it was the wrong decision, but you can't control what you can't control.
I think it is pretty clear that if you asked Las Vegas, "Which team would be favored over every other team if they played on a neutral field?" the answer would be UGA.
Heck, I think Michigan should have been disqualified from consideration by the committee from day one.
But, that's not what happened. We can disagree over who the "best" team is. But, we should all agree that the best team doesn't always win.

Washington played pretty darn good last night at times, but made too many mistakes. They have a high ceiling but Michigan didn't leave them much margin for error.

With all due respect to our friend Bret, FSU was never ever an elite Top 4 team. NO ONE thought that after we lost to them. No one. Committee screwed up by having them ranked too high to begin with. They deserved better, but weren’t one of the Top 4. Was a very good team with a bunch of very old kids…thats about it.
Norvell has done a great job resurrecting program….i do think relying on portal that heavily is not the recipe for long term success…we’ll see..
