Neff can find us a couple big time coaches. Coaches make all the difference.

Why keep Monte and why get rid of Brad? Monte has failed to meet historical achievements and Brad is better than our history!

You have a point but I think we need to try something different in basketball also for a chance for a different result. You can’t be pleased with where we are in basketball. If so you are shooting to low.

I am not satisfied but don’t think a new HC is the answer. I like the fact we hired a big time assistant and look forward to additional investment in the program. BTW a new coach is likely to do well and bolt at the first option or crap the bed. Either way the program suffers so let’s try something never tried at Clemson which is investing in the program.

Not mutually exclusive. Curious as to when to when you attended Clemson?

Would all your scocks answer the same dates or have you carefully crafted an alternative identity for each one?

Maybe makes 2 of 10 from that spot. Shot misses it was a brilliant time out to set the defense. Will never satisfy the Lunatic Fringe.

Coaches make a huge difference in some sports on the practice ground/court and in all sports in recruiting. In many sports, and maybe most, talent makes all the difference. Our grandson plays travel baseball and at age 10-11 knew what should be done instinctively because of all the coaching he had received and all the baseball he has watched. Baseball is about individual skills and by the time kids get to college they have made every play hundreds of times, but that does not mean they can hit or throw a curve ball all the time.
The top 4 seeds are Tennessee, Stanford, Oregon State and Virginia Tech so without looking them up, can you name their coaches?

How is knowing their names mean anything? Most people on this board, who espouse very strong opinions on the topic, know virtually nothing about our baseball program. College baseball is still a minor sport in the big picture relegated mostly to steaming channels in the ESPN app. I don’t know the name of a single hockey coach at any level of the sport but I’m pretty sure that there are good ones and bad ones.
Virginia Tech is coached by John Szefc who has had a mediocre tenure at Va Tech until this year.
Tom Vitelo at Tennessee was an assistant at Arkansas and has made an immediate and dramatic improvement to Tennessee. His tenure is short but incredibly impressive.
I have no idea who coaches the other two.

Excellent coaches make an immediate difference. Brad and Monty are average at best. They are a dime a dozen.

Coaches are huge in baseball too. It's about chemistry, moral, inspiration, knowing who you have, and knowing the situations well and how to adapt. Managing your pitchers and lineup are huge as well. Then there are still basics that get worked on at the college level at times. It's not like they don't practice and stay focused.

I think Brad is going to have a good year next season. I really do if we can do alright with whoever brings the ball up the court. Who will that be?

It will be several of them, but I expect Chase Hunter to be the primary ball handler.***

I believe we'll have a decent season also. Brad has shown a tendency to up his game when his future here is most in jeopardy, and this next one is shaping up as a go big or go home kind of deal. Last season it was a 5-game ACC win streak once we were out of postseason opportunities that just eked out a winning record to keep his head above water. With Neff's letter and 'bottom line' issues now being shared - expect one of our better showings.

and only tries hard when his job is on the line.
That’s a bit unfair, don’t you think?

Not based on his 12-year track record here, no.

His performance correlates with him being complacent once he's bagged the bucks and security, yet rising to the occasion, relatively speaking, when his gravy train is in real jeopardy. I thought it had finally caught up with him last year but he managed a program record 5 straight ACC wins to close out the season - so voila - one more year.
Just hoping that following this season there is no upping the buyout along with the obligatory year extension. Keeping Brad coaching for his job offers us our best chances for on court success.
