area for our anniversary Aug 26 and 27. Where's the best places to stay?? Best things to do down there? I've been a hundred times, but never really did anything. Remember, football season is coming up, got to leave a little reserve in the tank.

Isle of Palms = horribly crowded beach. Prepare your eyes for things you'll wish you didn't see. If you're young, hang out at the Windjammer. Otherwise stay downtown.
It's stupid hot out so try to avoid catching on fire.

...if you can book it. It's the nicest beach-front resort in Charleston.
Go DOWNTOWN Charleston and eat. There is great food and restaurants everywhere on the peninsula.

It is downtown in old Citadel barracks, a block away from Marion Square and King Street, just a few blocks away from the market. Go to Poogans Porch for brunch (get Bloody Mary). Take her to Waterfront Park, then White Point Garden/Battery. Stroll through the Market, then back up King Street toward Marion Square.
Plenty of great restaurants in every price range. There is a Carolina Ale House with a rooftop bar overlooking Marion Square. If you want to spend a little money, take her on a ghost walk, or do a dinner cruise. Or contact my buddy at www.watermusiccharters.com, and do an evening sail in the harbor. Call him Captain Greggy, and he will know who sent you. Has a beautiful new boat.
As far as beaches, we prefer Beachwalker Park on Kiawah. If you are going on a weekend, get there by about 1030AM.
HTH.

I don't think there is really a thing as "reserve in the bank". That needs to be spent within a week or two or it's gone,

They have THE BEST shrimp and grits! Fried grit cakes with the customary shrimp, andouille sausage and peppers and onions. The sauce is incredible. GO THERE.

Just got here today. It's hot, finding a place to park at the beach like someone said is IMPOSSIBLE, "at least at 2:30", and the one way streets with people falling all over the place are on my nerves!! But we did just get here today and now know what not to do. Tomorrow will hopefully be better. My son wants to leave early Saturday morning and catch a Clemson practice if that's even possible.

And eating at one of the small restaurants there. Has a neat little feel to it. Parking is a little jacked since your parking along side the little streets but something about it I like. Especially since it's right there at the isle of palms.
