A word about Jim Phillips.

He accepted an impossible job. It was clear when he accepted it that the ACC was inflicted with a fatal disease.
I said at the time he was hired that his job should be to work to help every team find the best possible landing spot for them and then dissolve the conference. (Of course, the only way he could have done that is if the presidents of the universities had given him that direction.)
If he had he probably could have gotten 6 or 8 teams into the B1G or SEC and another 6 or 8 into the Big 12.
But, instead he was given the assignment to be Baghdad Bob and stand in front of microphones telling everyone that the ACC is doing great and all the reports of it crumbling and dying were false.

Clemson got fooled into signing the GOR for a conference whose football teams have jokes of stadiums and budgets
if you look at the ACC . Clemson is the only program that is SEC. (Death Valley competes with every tier 1 venue in the SEC)
FSU is the second best and they have to renovate their stadium because they are like a Mississippi State or Texas A&M without the renovations .
If Clemson can't get out. consider the dynasty over. it's that simple

The university presidents should have seen that the ACC was a dead conference walking and hired a commissioner who was given the responsibility to help each school find the best landing spot possible, rather than try to save the dying conference.

Honestly, I think it's a ridiculous notion to suggest that a conference should hire a commissioner to oversee the destruction of the conference. I mean that's just crazy.
Aside from that, only three or four schools would actually have a landing spot. I mean, if you're telling me that schools like Pittsburgh NC State and whoever else are going to be happy about going to the Big 12. That's not a landing spot for them. That's aT best a lateral move, and it worse a step down. Basically aside from maybe three or four other schools the best thing for the rest of them for the ACC to stay intact, so of course they aren't going to hire someone to break up the conference.

You are right infected with a Seminole form of siph where they all are crazy and self possessed! Should have never been offered a spot in the ACC...academics sucked, athletics as crazy as Miami...did have a good head football coach! ACC gave FSWTC a home and real scheduling! Kinda like adopting a reformed 3 time felon...now they want out but want to take some idiots with them so they look legitimate!

So, generally Conference Commissioners aren't hired to oversee....

the dismantling of said conference.
I think Phillips is doing his best to try and keep the ACC together, and I applaud his efforts. But he's inherited a tough job, because Swofford laid the groundwork for the current problems.
The key to keeping the ACC together is UNC. If UNC stays, the ACC can survive the loss of FSU & Clemson. We don't prefer the loss. We'd hate to lose Clemson & FSU, but it's possible to survive it. If UNC goes away, then the ACC folds up like a lawn chair.

You're not wrong but survival in an FSU and Clemsonless ACC will lead to destination Mediocreville (where the P2 goes to shop)
Any decent coach or player GT hires/signs will be gone as soon as a better offer comes along -- and that will cover all sports, not just football.
The best scenario for the decent ACC brands -- Miami, GT, Louisville, VT, UVA, NCST, Pitt -- would be for the current ACC to dissolve and then reform without the current cling-ons in tow.
